Instructions for use of imazamox, herbicide application rates, and analogues

Active weed growth significantly reduces crop yields and complicates crop management. Imazamox helps control grass weeds and broadleaf weeds. It is recommended to use the product in the same field no more than once every three years. It is also not recommended to mix the herbicide with micronutrient supplements or liquid fertilizers.

What is included in the composition and dosage form

This post-emergence herbicide is available as a water-soluble concentrate. Imazamox is the active ingredient that helps control grass and broadleaf weeds.

Purpose and mechanism of operation

Imazamox is used to treat pea and soybean crops during the early stages of weed development. It is effective against the following harmful plants:

  • cereals (field sow thistle, creeping wheatgrass, foxtail, hairy woolly grass, millet);
  • dicotyledons (yellow and pink sow thistle, goosefoot, chamomile, amaranth, knotweed, fumitory, ragweed, field mustard, chickweed, quinoa, small-flowered ragwort).

The working solution penetrates plants through their leaves and root system. The treatment disrupts nucleic acid and protein synthesis in weed tissue, which stunts plant growth and contributes to their death.

The development of harmful crops stops several hours after treatment.

When using imazamox, it is important to remember that any plants can be planted in the treated areas for the next season (sugar beet is an exception).

Safety precautions

This substance is classified as hazard group 3 for humans and bees. Safety requirements must be observed during the preparation and use of the working solution:

  • work is carried out using personal protective equipment (respirator, safety glasses, rubber shoes and gloves, special clothing);
  • During spraying of plants it is prohibited to drink, smoke, or eat;
  • It is recommended to treat weeds in calm, dry weather.

In cases of acute herbicide poisoning, symptoms include watery eyes, shortness of breath, wheezing, and bloody nasal discharge. Medical attention is essential.

Possible compatibility

Imazamox remains active in tank mixtures with other herbicides, pesticides, and insecticides. To ensure the effectiveness of these mixtures, preliminary testing is recommended. Mixing imazamox with graminicides is not recommended.

Expiration date and proper storage

A separate, dry, ventilated area is designated for storing the concentrated solution. The storage location should be protected from direct sunlight. Do not allow the solution to freeze, as this may cause a loss of its performance properties.

Do not store herbicides in food or animal feed. It is recommended to store the substance in its original, tightly sealed packaging. The shelf life is two years from the date of manufacture.

Substitute products

Imazamox is the active ingredient in many herbicides. It's easy to find several popular options.

  • The "Global" working solution is used to spray annual and perennial dicotyledonous and grassy weeds in areas planted with legumes and sunflowers. Crop rotation guidelines must be followed when using this product.
  • Euro-Lightning herbicide, a concentrated aqueous solution, helps control most weeds in sunflower fields. It's easy to use and penetrates weeds through leaves and roots.
  • The post-emergence herbicide "Kaptora Plus" is used against ragweed, grasses, and sow thistle. Its advantages include: soil action, which controls subsequent weed growth, convenient formulation, and protection against water slugs.

The advantage of imazamox is that it is a selective herbicide, so the working solution does not harm cultivated plants. Its effectiveness is ensured when the instructions for use are followed. Controlled application rates also minimize environmental impact.
