Before using pesticides on your property, you should familiarize yourself with their purpose, benefits, and instructions for use. The herbicide "Sukhovey" makes it easy to control grass weeds and annual dicotyledons. It also acts as a desiccant, so it's used for pre-harvest treatment of cultivated plants.
What is included in the composition and existing forms of release
The pesticide "Sukhovey" is available as an aqueous solution in 5- and 10-liter plastic canisters. Diquat is the active ingredient and effectively controls grass weeds and annual broadleaf weeds. As a desiccant, it is used for sunflower and potato crops. Desiccation is typically performed in August to speed up crop ripening.
Advantages of the drug
Sukhovey is a non-selective herbicide, which is its main advantage. Desiccation of cultivated plants also eliminates many weeds. An important feature of this desiccant is the ability to adjust harvest timing based on weather conditions.
The preparation also exhibits other advantages: it ensures simultaneous ripening of the crop, is easy to use, reduces the cost of drying seed material, and prevents the development and spread of fungal diseases of potatoes and sunflowers.

Purpose and operating principle
Spraying green foliage with the working solution disrupts biological and physiological processes in plants. The active ingredient, diquat, disrupts the ability of plant cells to retain water, which contributes to the drying out and death of plants. Effects are visible after 5-7 days (the speed of onset depends on the plant's growth phase and weather conditions).
This quality is used for pre-harvest desiccation of sunflowers and potatoes to accelerate crop ripening by several days and facilitate harvesting. Since diquat is non-selective, the desiccation process also promotes the drying of weeds.

Instructions for use
As a herbicide, the working solution is used to treat vegetative weeds before sowing or emergence of the main crop. The working solution consumption rate is 50-200 liters per hectare. This solution kills grass weeds and annual dicotyledons.
When pre-harvest desiccation of crops, it is important to follow the manufacturer's recommendations for application rules and consumption rates.
| Processing object | Consumption rate, l/ha | Features of application |
| Potato | 100-300 | The plantings are processed at the end of the tuber formation period (the skin becomes rough) |
| Sunflower | 100 | spray the crop at the stage of browning of the baskets |
Precautionary measures
The pesticide "Sukhovey" is not particularly toxic and is classified as hazard class 3 for bees and humans. However, precautions must be observed during use:
- Be sure to wear personal protective equipment (special clothing, respirator, safety glasses, rubber boots and gloves);
- During the treatment of the area, you must not drink, smoke, eat, or remove protective equipment.
If the working solution comes into contact with your skin, wipe the affected area with a dry cloth and rinse with clean running water. If symptoms of poisoning appear (nausea, vomiting, nosebleeds, or irritation of the nasal mucosa), seek medical attention.

Is compatibility possible?
The simultaneous use of Sukhovey and urea and ammonium nitrate is permitted. Combining the product with other pesticides is difficult due to different application periods. When creating tank mixtures, preliminary compatibility testing is recommended. Mixtures that produce sediment or that heat up the liquid should not be used.
How and how long can it be stored?
Store the solution in a dry, ventilated area. Do not store pesticides and food products or animal feed together. It is recommended to store the solution in its original, tightly sealed packaging. The recommended temperature range is from -30°C to +35°C. The shelf life is 3 years from the date of manufacture.

What to replace it with
Various non-selective herbicides are used for pre-harvest desiccation of crops and simultaneous weed control. Diquat is the active ingredient in several products: Donat, Dikoshans, Desikat Super, Adekvat, and Recton.
Non-selective pesticides significantly simplify plant care. When applied to a plot, harvesting is simplified and the area is cleared of weeds. However, it's important to follow the manufacturer's instructions to avoid harming the plants being cultivated.
