Often, it's necessary to protect plants and crops from more than just diseases and harmful insects. Mollusks can make life significantly more difficult for gardeners and homeowners. With "Slizneed," you can quickly rid your plot of these pesky slugs. Natural remedies can certainly be used. However, if pests are widespread, reliable chemicals are recommended.
What is included in the composition and dosage form
The product is available in granular form. The active ingredient is metaldehyde, a stomach pesticide that effectively eliminates slugs from the area. When using the poison, keep in mind that it is virtually insoluble in water and only slightly soluble in ethanol or ether. "Slizneed" is sold in plastic bags. Packaging options include 15 g, 30 g, 90 g, and 300 g.
Operating principle and purpose
A small number of slugs and snails are believed to be beneficial to gardens and summer cottages, providing sanitary services by feeding on fallen leaves. However, in large numbers, these mollusks can cause significant damage to crops and significantly reduce yields. Slugs also spread fungal diseases, which is dangerous. To quickly eliminate these pests, it's best to use chemicals.
Metaldehyde is designed to kill slugs and snails. The pests die when the pesticide enters the mollusk's digestive tract and damages the mucous membranes. If the slugs come into contact with the granules, the product is absorbed by contact (the active ingredient also penetrates the mollusk's body, causing dehydration and death).

Instructions for use and consumption rates
When using "Slizneed," it's important to consider the mollusks' habits. Slugs and snails don't live outdoors, preferring to hide in the shade (under rocks, boards, or in cracks in the ground). Therefore, it's recommended to evenly distribute the contact-and-intestinal pesticide granules in several locations:
- along the row spacing;
- if the plants are not densely located, then separately under each bush;
- near slug shelters, along stone garden paths.
The optimal time to apply the product is in the morning or evening. It is recommended to spread at least 30 g per 10 square meters of area. The slug population and the degree of infestation in the area must be taken into account. If the slug population is low, the application rate can be reduced. The pesticide's effectiveness remains for 3-3.5 weeks after application. The granules' activity remains unchanged even after precipitation.

Precautionary measures
The product is classified as hazard class 2 for humans and bees. When distributing granules, observe the following precautions:
- work is carried out using personal protective equipment (respirator, safety glasses, special clothing, rubber gloves and shoes);
- While scattering granules, it is prohibited to drink, smoke, eat, or remove personal protective equipment;
- The area is treated in the absence of animals and children.
The pesticide should not be used near water bodies. Granules should be scattered 1-2 times per season, and should not be used less than 20-22 days before harvest.

What to do in case of poisoning
The product is toxic and can cause poisoning if it comes into contact with the skin or gets ingested. The main symptoms of poisoning include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, drowsiness, and rapid pulse. If animals ingest the granules, paralysis and death occur within less than 24 hours. First aid for pesticide poisoning:
- the affected area of skin is wiped with a piece of cloth and washed under clean running water;
- If granules are accidentally swallowed, drink activated charcoal (1 g per 1 kg of body weight) with several glasses of clean water. Induce vomiting after a few minutes.
After providing first aid, be sure to contact a doctor.
Is compatibility possible?
Manufacturers do not recommend mixing the drug "Slizneed" with other pesticides.

How and how long can it be stored?
Store granules in a ventilated area. It is not recommended to store the pesticide in the same room with food, animal feed, or forage. Unused granules should be placed in a sealed, labeled container. The shelf life of the granules is 2 years from the date of manufacture.

Substitute products
To kill slugs, you can use various preparations containing metaldehyde and other agents.
- StopUlit granules help kill snails and slugs within 24 hours. The product is harmless to animals and insects. It has a long period of activity. Remarkably, no reapplication is required.
- The pesticide "Axela" is produced in granular form and is scattered between rows. It protects vegetable crops and berry bushes from slugs.
- The biological product "Limacid" helps control mollusks' reproduction and movement. Its effects can be observed within a few hours of consumption. The pesticide effectively kills slugs in basements and greenhouses. The desiccant granules, when applied to the mollusks, dry their bodies, preventing them from moving.
Slugs not only destroy greenery, reducing harvests, but also damage vegetables and root crops. The popularity of "Slizneed" is due to its ease of use, high effectiveness, and long-lasting protective effect. To eradicate mollusks, you can combine traditional methods (mulching the soil with sand, chalk, or coffee grounds) with chemicals.
