Proper root development is essential for plant nutrition and healthy growth. To stimulate root formation, gardeners use specialized chemicals. Heteroauxin has a wide range of uses and is available in a convenient formulation. This makes it a popular choice among gardeners and farmers. It's important to read the instructions before use.
The formulation and components of the growth stimulator
The active ingredient of the drug is beta-indoleacetic acid. This phytohormone is produced synthetically. The substance was first isolated in 1934. It was obtained from mold fungi.
The root growth stimulator is sold in plastic bags in various dosages, ranging from 50 grams to 1 kilogram. It is also available in tablets or quick-dissolving 0.1 gram capsules. Tablets are considered the most convenient option.
Purpose and how it works
Heteroauxin is often used to stimulate root formation in seedlings and cuttings of ornamental and fruit-bearing shrubs and trees. It is also used to treat seeds, bulbs, and the root system of seedlings.
All plants treated with this growth stimulant have healthy roots. This improves the development of their above-ground parts, increases the yield of vegetables and fruit crops, and enhances the decorative qualities of flowers.
Terms of Use
To ensure successful application of Heteroauxin, it's important to follow the instructions for preparing the working solution. To do this, follow these recommendations:
- Prepare a special container. It's best to use a thick glass container that isn't used for cooking.
- Put on protective clothing, glasses and rubber gloves.
- Take the required number of tablets of the substance and grind them into powder.
- Pour the powder into a container. It's important to use a dry container.
- Draw 10 cubes of ethyl alcohol into a medical syringe and pour it into a container.
- Cover the container with a lid and place it in a water bath. The water temperature should be 50-60 degrees Celsius.
- Shake the solution periodically and open the lid to release the vapors.
- Remove from heat after the powder has completely dissolved.
- Dissolve the required volume of the prepared mass in water and proceed to processing the crops.
Fruit trees and shrubs
Fruit trees are recommended to be watered with the prepared solution twice during the season. This should be done in the spring after bud break and when the leaves begin to fall. To prepare the working solution, use 6 grams of the solution per 10 liters of water. This amount is sufficient for treating two mature trees. Berry bushes require a lower dosage. For this purpose, use 4 grams of the stimulating solution per 1 bucket of water.

Bulbous plants
Heteroauxin is not recommended for treating edible plant bulbs. Flower bulbs should be soaked in a 0.01% solution for 4-6 hours before planting. To prepare the solution, use one tablet per 1 liter of water. This promotes more lush and prolonged flowering and ensures abundant bud production. Use one liter of solution per 1 kilogram of bulbs.
Cuttings
Heteroauxin can be used to root lignified and semi-lignified cuttings. However, it is not recommended for soft, green shoots. Even the weakest solution will burn them.
If using Heteroauxin for propagation of herbaceous crops, it's important to use mature cuttings rather than vegetative ones. The solution concentration should be 0.02%. This means using two tablets per liter of water. This amount is enough to treat 100 cuttings.
Seedling
A 0.005% solution is used to treat vegetable and flower seedlings. This means you need to mix 5 tablets of the solution per bucket of water. To use the solution, simply dip the roots of the plants into it. Watering with "Heteroauxin" can be done 7-10 days after planting. This should be done in the evening or on warm, cloudy days.

Roses and carnations
To prepare "Heteroauxin" for roses, take semi-woody or green rose cuttings and soak them in the solution for 12-15 hours. Mix 2 grams of the solution with 5 liters of water.
The carnation solution is applied when planting in a flowerbed. To do this, mix 2 grams of the solution with 10 liters of water. This amount is enough to treat 5 square meters of planting.
Broken branches
Broken branches often significantly impair the appearance of plants. If the shoot is not completely broken off, it is quite possible to save the plant. To do this, treat the affected area with a heavy dose of "Heteroauxin." Then, apply a bandage and place a support under the branch to stabilize it. This method of repairing damage is considered very effective for indoor plants.
When growing an ornamental plant outdoors, a broken branch will take root if there is absolute calm for 2-3 weeks after treatment. To increase the likelihood of healing, create a plastic barrier around the plant to protect it from the wind.
Grape
For grapes, a solution of 1 tablet of the product per 5 liters of water is recommended. This mixture is used for rooting cuttings. They should be soaked in the solution for 24 hours. Then, they can be waxed and planted. This volume of working solution is sufficient for 4 medium-sized cuttings.
Heteroauxin for orchids
The product can be used for various types of orchids. To make a stock solution of the desired concentration, follow the standard recipe. Use one cube of the product per 1 liter of water and mix thoroughly.
Safety precautions
The product is considered moderately hazardous. However, when handling it, it is important to take precautions, avoiding contact with skin, mucous membranes, or ingestion. When using the substance, wear personal protective equipment. If the product comes into contact with eyes, rinse them with clean water.
In case of accidental ingestion, drink 1-2 liters of a weak solution of potassium permanganate and induce vomiting. After providing first aid, seek medical attention.

How and how long to store
The product has a shelf life of 2 years. Store at temperatures no higher than 20 degrees Celsius. It is recommended to store in a dry, dark place.
Analogues
The following should be used as analogues of the substance:
- "Epin";
- "Zircon";
- "Kornevin".
Heteroauxin is an effective product that promotes root formation in cultivated plants. To ensure its effectiveness, it's important to strictly adhere to the recommended dosage.
