Making apple jam in a slow cooker is a joy. The advantages of this gadget are obvious. Once you've selected the appropriate mode and set the desired time, you can do other things. There's always plenty of that during the canning season. The yield is small, but that has its advantages. Instead of a bunch of jars of identical jam, you have a wide variety of jams.
How to prepare apple jam for the winter
Making jam in a slow cooker is easy. Every model has a simmering setting. It can be used to make apple jam.
How to select and prepare fruits
Particularly delicious jam is made from fruits that contain a lot of pectin. This is characteristic of old apple varieties:
- Grushevka;
- Semerenko;
- Slav;
- White filling.
Sour and sweet and sour apples are suitable for jam; you can use carrion apples. The fruits are sorted, washed, and the core and damaged areas are removed. To increase the intensity of the cooking process, they are cut into pieces. Some recipes call for peeling the skin, while others do not.

The apple flavor is enhanced by adding other fruits and spices to the jam. Classic pairings:
- apples + cinnamon;
- apples + ginger;
- apples + lemon.
Thick jam is a favorite among bakers. It makes an excellent filling for pies and tarts.
We sterilize containers
Sterilization time depends on the method and jar size. Before heat treatment, the jars are washed. Tin lids are boiled for 2-3 minutes, while nylon lids are washed and then rinsed with boiling water. Jam is packaged in small containers, so the table shows the sterilization time for a 0.5 liter jar.
| Way | Time |
| For a couple | 10 minutes |
| In the microwave | 5 minutes |
| In the oven | 10 minutes |
An empty jar can burst in the microwave, so add hot water. Pour enough water to cover the bottom by 1 cm.

How to make apple jam in a slow cooker?
Monitoring the cooking process is easy. If you use the correct amount (no more than 2/3 of the bowl's volume), the jam won't boil over. Just set the cooking time and then move on to other tasks. The amount of sugar in the recipes below can be adjusted. The sweeter the fruit, the less sugar you need.
Classic method of preparation
Very simple, very tasty. These are the ratings I can give this recipe. It was tested on a Redmond RMS-M92S multicooker. It has a stewing and baking function. These functions come in handy when making apple jam.

First, let's deal with the apples:
- the peel is removed and not thrown away;
- the core is thrown away;
- the pulp is cut into cubes.
| Raw materials | Quantity |
| Water | 250 ml |
| Sugar | 250-500 g |
| Peeled apples | 1000 g |
Place the peels in a bowl, cover with water, and simmer for 10 minutes. Add the diced apples. Add the sugar as well. Those with a sweet tooth should use 500 g, while those counting calories should use 250 g. Drain the juice from the peels (125 ml). Pour it into a container. Cook the jam for 100 minutes.
| Mode | Time | Actions |
| Extinguishing | 1 hour (60 minutes) | Stir 20 minutes before the end of the mode. |
| Bakery | 40 minutes | Stir gently 2-3 times |
From this raw material you can get 700-750 g of jam.
With peel
Take 1 part sugar and 1 part apples. Core the apples and cut the rest into slices. Transfer the fruit and sugar mixture to a blender and let it sit for 2 hours. During this time, the apples release their juice. This juice prevents the mixture from burning during cooking. If it's low, add a little water.

Jam is cooked in the following modes:
- "Extinguishing" - 2 hours;
- "Baking" (30 minutes) + "Pilaf" (40 minutes).
The sweet mixture is stirred several times. By the end of cooking, it becomes smooth and the slices soften.
To make the jam moderately sweet, add half the sugar and add more during cooking if necessary.
Apple and pear jam
Pears and apples are used to prepare this amber delicacy. The table lists the weight of peeled and diced fruit.
| Proportions, No. | Sugar | Pears + apples |
| 1 | 500 g | 2 kg |
| 2 | 250 g | 1 kg |
They are preparing apple and pear jam in the "Bake" mode. If the fruit mixture takes up more than two-thirds of the bowl's capacity, leave the lid on. Cook for 1 hour first. If the mixture hasn't simmered sufficiently, extend the cooking time by 30-40 minutes. Stir the fruit 2-3 times during the cooking process.

Recipe with lemon
Citrus notes enhance the dessert's flavor. Adding lemon creates a thick, marmalade-like treat. For a 4-liter bowl, use 2 lemons, 1.5 kg of peeled and cored apples, and 600 g of honey.
First, boil whole or quartered apples for 10 minutes using the "Steam" setting, adding 1 cup of water. Strain the soft apples through a sieve. Juice the lemons and add it to the puree. Cook for 40 minutes using the "Stewing" setting.

Apple jam with mint
Mint contains a wealth of nutrients. It's added to jam if no one in the household is allergic to it. Preparation takes 30 to 60 minutes:
- the peel is boiled in a glass of water, the broth is strained;
- apples are chopped with a meat grinder;
- Place all ingredients into the multicooker bowl;
- select the "Soup" program.
| Apples | Mint syrup | Sugar | Lemon for juice |

It's not only delicious but also healthy. Tea with apple-ginger jam eases cold symptoms. Just 5 grams of root per 1 kg of fruit and 3 tablespoons of sugar. The juice of half a lemon is also used.

This recipe was tested on a Vitek VT-4215 BM multicooker.
Apple jam with cinnamon
Cinnamon brings out the flavor of apples, making it a popular addition to apple desserts and baked goods. You can make this delicious treat in your favorite slow cooker using 1 kg of seasonal apples, 500 g of sugar, and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon.

First, the core is removed from the fruit, then the peel is removed. The pulp is cut into cubes and sprinkled with lemon juice. It is squeezed from half a lemon. The fruit is sprinkled with sugar and left to stand. The apples release their juice.
Place the bowl in the multicooker and select the appropriate mode:
- "Jam";
- "Extinguishing";
- "Soup".
Cooking time: 1 hour. Add cinnamon to the chopped fruit mixture, pour in 0.5 cups of water, stir, and press "Start." Open the lid occasionally to check the consistency of the jam and stir it.
If after an hour the mixture has not thickened enough, extend the cooking time.
Cooking without sugar in a slow cooker
Jam is made from ripe, sweet fruits without sugar. The resulting product is dietary and suitable for diabetics. By simmering the fruits in a slow cooker, you get a thick, creamy treat.

The ingredients are minimal:
- apples;
- water.
The liquid prevents the mixture from burning and is used in the first stage of cooking. Its algorithm:
- the cores are cut out of the apples;
- the pulp is cut into random slices;
- pour them into a bowl;
- for 1-1.5 kg of fruit add less than a full glass of cold water;
- set the "Steam cooking" mode.
After 60 minutes of cooking, the fruit will be soft. Remove it with a slotted spoon, transfer it to a sieve, and strain it. The remaining peel remains in the sieve. Transfer the puree to the multicooker bowl. Select the "Stewing" program and set the cooking time for 1 hour.

Open the lid every 15-20 minutes to stir the fruit mixture. Increase the time if necessary. The resulting jam should be thick. Sterilize the jars to extend the shelf life of the product, which is made without sugar.
Duration and storage conditions
At a constant temperature of 5-22°C, apple jam made in a slow cooker will keep for several years. To prevent mold from forming in the jar, place a mustard plaster under the lid. For long-term storage, boil the jam thoroughly and add sugar according to the recommended amount.
Apple preserves prepared in a slow cooker without sugar have a shorter shelf life. They'll only keep for six months in a cellar or refrigerator.
