Healthy lingonberry jam is an unusual treat, combining a sweet flavor with a slight bitterness. Since ancient times, lingonberries have been considered a berry that can grant immortality. Lingonberry teas and infusions are often used to treat colds. But jam is also rich in vitamins.
Features of making lingonberry jam
Lingonberry jam has a jelly-like consistency, with whole berries and pieces of other ingredients evenly distributed throughout. Thanks to its unique preparation formula, the jam is dense and thick. Various ingredients can be used to enhance the flavor and add sweetness to the lingonberry jam.
How to choose berries and prepare them for cooking
To ensure a rich and attractive color in the finished jam, it's recommended to select only the ripest, bright red lingonberries. However, they should be selected carefully, as overripe lingonberries can ruin the jam.
Caution! Make sure no leaves get into the mixture, otherwise it will taste very bitter.
How to make lingonberry jam
Lingonberries also pair beautifully with other berry and fruit combinations. You can prepare them according to the classic recipe or try other interesting variations.
A simple recipe for the winter
A recipe for preparing a preserve for cold winter evenings with a cup of tea and baked goods with amazing jam.

Ingredients:
- 2 kilograms of lingonberries;
- 1 kilogram of sugar;
- water.
How to prepare: Cover the prepared fruit with sugar and leave for 5 hours. Then mix everything using a suitable mixing bowl. Place the sweet mixture in a container and simmer over low heat until it boils. Simmer for another half hour and let cool. Repeat the process several more times. Ready by the color – you want it to be bright red. Pour into a clean container and seal.
Five-Minute
The recipe's name speaks for itself—it takes minimal time and effort to prepare. Ingredients:
- 2.5 kilograms of berries;
- 2 kilograms of sugar;
- faceted glass of water;
Directions: Pour water and sweeten into a saucepan. Cook until the sugar is completely dissolved. Then add the main ingredient and simmer over low heat for no more than 5 minutes. Pour the finished jam into the saucepan and store.
Without peel
This recipe makes a delicate jam without the skins and seeds. However, it will take longer to cook. Ingredients:
- 2 kilograms of lingonberries;
- 1.5 kilograms of sugar;
Directions: Puree the dried berries using any convenient method: blender, mixer, or meat grinder. Pass the resulting pulp through a fine sieve. Add sugar to this mixture and simmer over low heat. Bring to a boil and simmer for half an hour. Store in jars.
With cinnamon and orange
The spicy flavor and rich aroma are the result of adding cinnamon and orange to this recipe.

Ingredients:
- 1.5 kilograms of lingonberries;
- 700 grams of sugar or honey;
- a glass of water;
- 10 grams of cinnamon;
- zest of one orange.
Directions: Cover the fruit with water, add sugar, and cinnamon. Cook until the jam thickens, stirring occasionally with a wooden spoon. Add the lemon zest to the cooking container and simmer for another 5 minutes. Pour the finished dessert into individual containers.

In a multicooker
A significantly simplified recipe that requires less time and effort. Ingredients:
- 2 kilograms of lingonberries;
- 1.5 kilograms of sugar;
- lemon juice to taste.
Directions: Dry the lingonberries and place them in a kitchen utensil. Spread the lingonberries evenly, add sugar and lemon juice. Set the "Stewing" program to one hour. Once finished, set the "Warm" program to another two hours. Roll up the finished jam.

With an apple
The apples slightly offset the lingonberry flavor and eliminate their tartness. Ingredients:
- 1 kilogram of lingonberries;
- 1 kilogram of apples;
- one glass of water;
- 2 kilograms of sugar;
Directions: Place a pot of water on the stove and add sweetener. While the syrup is simmering, peel the apples. Drop the cooked apples into the boiling water and simmer for 15 minutes. Repeat after cooling. Add the lingonberries for the third time and simmer for 7 minutes. Pour the hot mixture into containers.

With plum
Since lingonberries are slightly tart and bitter, sweet plums can be used for this preserve. Ingredients:
- 1 kilogram of lingonberries;
- 800 grams of plums;
- 1 kilogram of sugar;
- half a liter of water.
How to prepare: After pitting the plums, puree them using any convenient method—a blender or meat grinder. Add water, the main ingredient, and the plum mixture to a cooking pot. Simmer the ingredients until thickened. Add sugar and cook for another 10 minutes. Stir the jam occasionally. Pour the prepared delicacy into clean jars.

With carrots
To enrich the already healthy lingonberry jam with vitamins, you can add carrots, which will give it an interesting color. Ingredients:
- 2 kilograms of lingonberries;
- 600 grams of carrots;
- 1 kilogram of sugar;
Directions: Pour boiling water over the berries and let sit for 5 minutes. Meanwhile, peel and slice the carrots. Pour boiling water over them and let sit for 10 minutes. After the time has elapsed, add the lingonberries and sugar to the pan. Bring to a boil and simmer over low heat for 10 minutes. Add the carrot slices and simmer for another 7 minutes. Pour into jars.

How to properly store the workpiece
As a rule, sweet preserves for the winter are stored in any cool place, be it a cellar or a refrigerator. However, shelf life directly depends on the preparation method. If the jam has been heat-treated and simmered for at least half an hour, it can be stored year-round. Uncooked jam should be consumed within six months.
The unique lingonberry is used to make compotes, juices, jams, and liqueurs. Lingonberries are easy to process and work with, and recipes can surprise you with the variety of ingredients they can be paired with.
