Pests pose a growing threat to crops every year, and controlling them is becoming increasingly difficult. Gardeners are forced to try new chemicals that allow them to quickly and effectively save their painstakingly grown plants. "Executioner" is a unique Colorado potato beetle poison, which not only helps combat insect infestations, but is also safe for humans when used according to all the rules.
Description and characteristics of the insecticide “Executioner”
Manufacturers produce the poison "Palach" in ampoules containing gray-white water-soluble granules. Each package contains five ampoules weighing 2 grams each. The product is easily identified by the image of an axe on the packaging, which kills the Colorado potato beetle, the main pest of nightshade plants. The product is classified as a third-generation pesticide.
Because "Palach" has contact, intestinal, and systemic effects, it is classified as a combination poison. This significantly increases its effectiveness compared to competitors. In addition to killing the Colorado potato beetle, treatments with "Executioner" are considered preventative against late blight and macrosporiosis. The product has a fungicidal effect, promoting the growth of potato tubers.
Composition and active substance
The Executioner contains two main active ingredients:
- thiamethoxam;
- Poteytin.
The first quickly penetrates plants. When the Colorado potato beetle feeds on plant parts saturated with the poison, the poison attacks its body, and the pest dies. This method can even kill insects that live in colonies on the underside of leaves.

The second component is designed to prevent the accumulation of pesticides in tubers and reduce the harmful effects of "Palach" on the human body. Poteitin also strengthens plants' immune systems and increases their resilience to extreme weather conditions.
Mechanism of action on insects
"Executioner" is capable of destroying Colorado potato beetle colonies at all stages of development. The poison is effective against not only adults but also larvae. The poison's principle of action is based on the fact that the active substances penetrate the insect's digestive system and cause serious disruptions in its functioning. After this, the respiratory and nervous systems are damaged, paralyzing the beetle. The pest dies due to the blocked respiratory system. The product's effectiveness remains even after watering, wind, and precipitation.

Advantages and disadvantages of the product
"Executioner" is very popular among gardeners due to its advantages:
- destroys pests at any stage of development;
- acts quickly and effectively;
- easy to use;
- non-phytotoxic;
- Suitable for use in all weather conditions;
- has a long period of action;
- The Colorado potato beetle does not show any addiction to the drug.
However, the "Executioner" is not without certain shortcomings, which gardeners are also forced to pay attention to:
- the drug has a detrimental effect on bees (1st toxicity class), therefore its use near apiaries is prohibited;
- To avoid poisoning, it is necessary to observe safety measures and use protective equipment.

How to determine the required amount of the drug
The instructions for using "Executioner" indicate the recommended dosage for each crop. Typically, one 2-gram ampoule of the product is dissolved in 10 liters of water. The resulting volume is sufficient to treat 10 m2 plot.
Instructions for use
Detailed instructions for use are included in each package of "Executioner." All necessary additional information can also be found there.
How to prepare a working solution
Carefully pour the contents of one ampoule of the product into a bucket of clean, room-temperature water (10 liters). Mix thoroughly and pour into the sprayer tank.

Processing rules
The prepared working solution must be used immediately, otherwise it will lose its effectiveness. Apply "Palach" in the morning or evening, as well as in cloudy, dry weather, to avoid leaf burn from water droplets. Spray thoroughly, ensuring every bush is covered. Apply the solution evenly.
You must not exceed the recommended dosage of "Executioner", nor arbitrarily increase the frequency of treatments. This has a negative impact not only on the general condition of the plants, but also on the quality of the resulting harvest.
Precautions when working with chemicals
When working with the "Executioner" product, basic safety precautions and the recommendations in the enclosed instructions must not be ignored. To avoid poisoning or burns, personal protective equipment must be used:
- costume;
- gloves;
- glasses;
- respirator;
- headdress.

The total treatment time should not exceed 1 hour. The longer the treatment process with "Executioner," the higher the risk of allergic reactions.Under no circumstances should the working solution of the drug come into contact with the mucous membranes of the nose and mouth, the eyes, or certain areas of the skin.
If such an unpleasant incident occurs, you should immediately rinse the affected areas with running water and seek qualified medical help.
After finishing work with the poison, it is recommended to change clothes, take a shower using 72% laundry soap, and wash all working tools and containers and put them out of the reach of children.
Compatibility with other drugs
"Palach" is not compatible with other products designed to combat the Colorado potato beetle. When combined with them, the poison loses its effectiveness.
Duration and storage rules
The manufacturer's guaranteed expiration date is indicated on the packaging. It is recommended to store "Palach" in a dark, dry place, out of the reach of children and pets. Do not store the poison near medications or animal feed. Any product that has expired must be disposed of.

Substitutes
Troy is a product completely identical to Executioner in composition. There are also other, equally worthy analogs:
- Corado;
- "Prestige";
- "Taboo";
- "Aktara".
All of them have a systemic effect and guarantee long-term protection against the Colorado potato beetle.
Gardeners' reviews of the product
Since the "Executioner" appeared on the market, gardeners have already had time to evaluate its advantages and disadvantages in their own plots.

Mikhail Eliseevich, farmer: "My previous treatment for Colorado potato beetles wasn't producing the expected results, so I decided to try 'Executioner.' The price was fine, but the application rates meant I'd have to buy a lot. However, experience has shown that one or two treatments per season are enough to eliminate all generations of the pest. I'm quite satisfied with this result."
Maria Afanasyevna, a summer resident: "I've been using 'Palach' for several years now, and I'm happy with the results: just two treatments per season rid my beds of Colorado potato beetles. The price is also affordable, even for retirees. However, next season, my neighbors are planning to install several beehives, and the product is dangerous for them, so I'll probably have to look for a safer alternative."
Vladislav Semenovich, an experienced gardener: "I've tried many products to combat the Colorado potato beetle, but I've settled on 'Executioner' for now. The results and price are quite satisfactory, but one caveat bothers me: exceeding the recommended dosage and frequency of treatments can harm not only the plants but also human health. So, it's not such a safe product. Whenever possible, I'll look for something more effective but less harmful."
Angelina Denisovna, a novice gardener: "A neighbor gave us "Palach" to try when our potato plants were heavily infested with Colorado potato beetles, and we didn't have time to go into town to get the poison. I must say, the results were a pleasant surprise: most of the pests were dead the very next day, and a couple of days later, the plants were completely clean. We haven't sprayed them again. Whenever possible, I'll study the product's ingredients and its effects on humans. If it proves safe, I'll definitely use "Palach" in future seasons."
