To prepare compote from White Naliv apples for the winter, you need to harvest the fruit in a timely manner. Apples that are not fully ripe are best for canning. These fruits are tasty and light in color, but they have one drawback: they spoil quickly. For this reason, the fruit is picked from the tree, not from the ground, and carefully preserved according to the recipe, creating delicious and sweet compotes.
Benefits of making White Naliv apple compote
There are several advantages to a drink made from White filling:
- The fruits, if preserved whole, can later be used to create desserts.
- Apples can be combined with other fruits to create a delicious and unusual drink.
- Compotes made from this variety are sweet, but not cloying; they taste like apple juice.
Selection and preparation of fruits and containers
The fruits will need to be inspected for rot, mold, and damage; any unsuitable parts will need to be removed or damaged areas will need to be discarded.
Note: White filling can be preserved whole or cut into small pieces.
The container will also need to be processed, and it is handled in the following manner:
- Rinse the jars under running water using baking soda;
- we inspect each one for cracks, chips and damage;
- turn it upside down and let the remaining water drain onto a towel;
- Sterilize over steam for 10-15 minutes, depending on the volume of the container.

Storage periods and duration
It's best to store jarred compotes in a cool place—a cellar, basement, or refrigerator. The shelf life of such a product is no more than two years.
You shouldn't expose the preserves to temperature changes; in the cold, the compote may freeze, and in the warmth, it may start to ferment.
Preserving, including making compotes, is one way to extend the shelf life of your favorite apples, which certainly won't last through winter and will spoil much earlier. It's also a way to create delicious and aromatic drinks.
