Characteristics of the Pineapple tomato variety, cultivation and care

The Pineapple tomato has only recently become popular. However, it quickly gained the love and trust of gardeners due to its excellent taste and long-lasting fruiting.

Description of the variety

The Pineapple tomato, produced by the Biotekhnika agrofirm, is a mid-season, determinate variety. The bushes reach a height of 1.5-2 meters, with a ripening period of 110-115 days. This tomato variety's high yield is a major advantage: up to 5 clusters of 3-4 fruits per bush form, allowing for a harvest of up to 5 kg.

Yellow tomatoes

The tomatoes themselves are large, bright yellow (amber), flat-round, and weigh up to 300 g. They are fleshy, multi-chambered, and very sweet. This tomato variety also contains a large amount of carotene and sugars.

How does landing take place?

Seeds are sown for seedlings in late March or early April. Two seeds are placed in plastic cups, leaving the larger seedlings behind. Alternatively, they can be planted individually.

Yellow tomatoes

In May, the seedlings are transplanted to their permanent location in sun-warmed soil. Before planting, add 1 tablespoon of a mixture of superphosphate and potassium sulfate to the hole. It is recommended not to plant tomatoes in soil previously occupied by nightshades such as potatoes, eggplants, and peppers, as they are susceptible to the same diseases as tomatoes. It is best if the bed previously occupied by zucchini, cucumbers, or dill was previously grown there.

The distance between bushes is 40x50 cm and no more than 4 seedlings per 1 m².

Care Features

It is better to grow pineapple tomatoes in a greenhouse, since indoor conditions are more favorable than in open ground for ripening large fruits.

Important! If you want to grow large tomatoes, remember to fertilize the bushes with magnesium sulfate during fruit formation and to hill them. Also, remember that overwatering is harmful to tomatoes; this should only be done during dry weather, otherwise the fruits will crack.

Planting tomatoesIn addition, to prevent tomato cracking, it is recommended to feed the bushes sufficiently and avoid overheating the air in the greenhouse. To achieve this, especially in dry and hot weather, it is necessary to regularly ventilate the room.

For maximum benefit, it's best to train the bushes into 2-3 stems, leaving no more than 4 clusters on each. Since this variety loves the sun, remember to remove old leaves promptly, but don't overdo it, as lack of shade can cause cracks in the fruit.

Spraying with the preparation

Since this variety can grow up to 1.5 meters in height, the bushes need to be tied up. Drive a wooden or metal stake into the ground next to the tomato plant, and then tie the stem to it. This should be done using strips of cotton fabric (old sheets and pillowcases, pre-boiled, work well for this purpose), tying the stem loosely so as not to disrupt the plant's nutrition.

Advantages of the variety

In addition to its flavor, the Pineapple tomato will delight gardeners with its resistance to a number of diseases and its overall ease of care. Many gardeners also note that these tomatoes are resistant to transportation, but their shelf life is short—up to 2-3 weeks. Therefore, it's best to find a use for them right away. With their excellent flavor, these tomatoes are ideal for salads and preserves, such as ketchups and sauces.

Being a yellow tomato, Pineapple tomatoes are packed with many beneficial nutrients. Furthermore, the micronutrients found in yellow tomatoes complement each other.

A brush with tomatoes

It's worth noting the benefits of yellow tomatoes for vision—this color indicates the presence of a large amount of vitamin A (retinol), which has a beneficial effect on the organs of vision.

Eating these tomatoes is twice as healthy as eating red ones, as they are a dietary product that contains a balanced amount of proteins, carbohydrates and fats.

The Pineapple variety is increasingly gaining popularity and receiving well-deserved positive reviews, as even among yellow tomato varieties, it stands out for its large fruits, disease resistance, and excellent taste.
