Description of the indeterminate tomato variety Kievlyanka and growing tips

The Kievlyanka tomato was developed by Ukrainian breeders. The variety has earned positive reviews from gardeners for its low maintenance, large, tasty fruits, and resistance to infections and diseases that affect nightshades.

What is the Kievlyanka tomato?

The Kyivlyanka tomato variety is ideal for growing outdoors, in greenhouses, or hotbeds. Yield depends on climate and weather conditions, as well as care, regular watering, and fertilizing.

Description and characteristics of the Kievlyanka variety:

1. A mid-late variety that produces its first harvest just 130 days after planting the seeds in the ground for seedlings.
2. An indeterminate plant species that can grow up to 2 m in greenhouse conditions.
3. Tomatoes have medium foliage.
4. The bushes are not spreading. Everything is growing.
5. The leaves on the Kievlyanka tomato bushes are light green.
6. High yield, which is determined by both the technical parameters of the variety and the large mass of fruits.
7. The variety is undemanding to temperature fluctuations and climate changes.

The characteristics of the fruits include the following:

1. The fruits do not crack, which allows Kievlyanka to be grown for commercial purposes and transported over long distances.
2. The marketable appearance is not lost at all; the tomatoes retain the same shape as on the bushes.
3. The fruits keep well, which allows you to store tomatoes in boxes for a long time.
4. On one bush, several clusters are formed, on each of which up to 6 tomato ovaries are formed.

Domestic farmers and gardeners have successfully cultivated this tomato variety far beyond Ukraine's borders. In Russia, it is recommended to grow it in greenhouses, hotbeds, or shelters.

The fruits of the Kievlyanka variety are quite heavy, with a single fruit weighing up to 1 kg. The tomatoes are heart-shaped, cube-shaped, and have a juicy, medium-firm core. Inside are several seed chambers with small voids. When fully ripe, the fruits turn a raspberry-pink color. The taste of the fruits is also noteworthy.

Kievlyanka tomatoes are very sweet, so they are used to make the following types of tomato products:

How to grow tomatoes?

This variety can be grown from seeds purchased in specialty stores or from seedlings. The latter option is preferable, as it allows for the selection of vigorous plants at the growth and leaf formation stage. Homegrown seedlings give gardeners a better chance of a high-quality harvest.

Cultivation should be carried out according to the following scheme. You will need a container filled with general-purpose soil or peat suitable for growing tomatoes.
Seeds, washed in potassium permanganate, are sown into the soil. The seeds should be buried 1 or 2 cm deep.

After carefully covering the seeds, moisten the soil with a spray bottle. Cover the boxes or pots containing the future seedlings with plastic wrap and place them in a room with a stable temperature.

As soon as the first sprouts appear, you need to transplant the plants into separate pots.

Place the seedling containers in a well-lit area so the sprouts receive at least 12 hours of sunlight. Before planting, harden off the plants by placing them on the balcony.

It is necessary to water regularly, moistening the soil as soon as the top layer of soil becomes dry.
