The tall tomato, Bloody Mary, was developed by Russian breeders. This first-generation hybrid is suitable for both open-field and greenhouse cultivation. It is characterized by early ripening and high yields.

Bloody Mary bushes can reach a height of 180 cm. These plants require pinching and staking. To increase yield during cultivation, the plants are trained into two stems.

The variety's characteristics and description indicate the plant's productivity. About 20 fruits are produced on long, flower-bearing clusters. An average bush yields 8 kg of tomatoes. When grown properly, tomatoes can be harvested until late autumn and the first frost.

The large fruits of this variety are distinguished by a slightly conical shape and a rich red color. At the technical ripeness stage, the tomatoes are light green. The smooth, thin skin has a glossy sheen. In appearance, the tomatoes resemble plums. A ripe tomato weighs 150-250 g. The first fruits can be picked from the bush after 90 days.

The harvest occurs as it ripens. Tomatoes are characterized by their attractive appearance and are suitable for long-distance transportation. They can be grown on an industrial scale and used for commercial purposes.

Tomatoes can be stored in a cool place for a long time, maintaining their flavor. In cooking, tomatoes are used for canning and fresh consumption. They are also suitable for making tomato juice, which is used in the Bloody Mary cocktail.

Agricultural technology of cultivation

The Bloody Mary hybrid is recommended for greenhouse cultivation, but in some regions it is grown outdoors. To grow seedlings, seeds should be purchased from specialized retailers.

Sowing is done in mid-March in containers with prepared soil. Before planting, the seeds are treated with a potassium permanganate solution to boost plant immunity and ensure uniform germination.

The seeds are planted at a depth of 1.5 cm and watered using a sprayer. The container with the seeds is covered with plastic wrap until the sprouts emerge. When growing the seedlings, maintain a consistent temperature. To ensure stable growth, the seedlings are fed with a complex fertilizer.

During the initial stages of seedling development, it is recommended to water the plant with warm water to help it acclimate to the outdoor conditions. When two leaves form, the plant is pricked out.

The prepared planting material is transferred to a permanent location in the holes. To prevent plants from dying and to help them take root more quickly in a new location, they are hardened off a week before planting by lowering their usual air temperature.

To form strong tomato bushes, plant them in a 70x30 (40) cm pattern. Water them using drip irrigation at sunset, as moisture getting on the foliage on a hot day can cause sunburn.

Further care of the crop consists of loosening the soil and mulching the soil using black fiber.
