The hybrid tomato variety Tanya F1 was developed by scientists at the Dutch company Seminis. There is also a tomato variety with a nearly identical name, Tatyana, which is not a hybrid; it was developed by breeders at the Russian company SeDek. Therefore, the Tanya tomato should be distinguished from Tatyana, as they are two different varieties.
Gardeners have been growing the Tanya variety in their gardens and homesteads since 2007, when it was added to the State Register of Seeds. It is recommended for planting in regions of the Russian Federation where climate conditions allow for open-ground seedling cultivation.
What is the Tanya tomato?
Tanya tomatoes are grown from genuine seeds purchased directly from the producers by the agricultural firms Prestige, Aquarelle, and Agros. The seeds are sold in specialized stores. Genuine seeds can be identified by their reddish hue.

This tomato variety is versatile. Although developed for open soil, it produces a large harvest in greenhouses and hothouses. The bushes grow compactly, taking up little space in the garden. These tomatoes have excellent taste and technical characteristics.
Characteristics and description of the variety:
- Determinate bush type.
- The height of the plant is 60 cm.
- The bushes are of the standard type and grow very branched and spreading.
- The leaves are large and dark green in color.
- This is a mid-season type of bush; the first harvest can be obtained 72 days after the seedlings have emerged.
The variety is resistant to diseases such as gray spot, which affects foliage, verticillium wilt, late blight, and alternaria. The first ovary is formed above the 6th or 7th leaf, and the next ones are formed after 1 or 2 leaves.
The yield from a plot of 1 m² is from 4.5 to 5.3 kg, which is considered an excellent indicator for a low-growing tomato variety.
Tanya tomato bushes do not require pinching, but the seedlings must be tied to trellises, as the branches are spreading and can break under the weight of the fruit.

Let's take a look at the tomatoes produced by the Tanya F1 tomato, including their description and characteristics:
- The weight of one tomato varies from 140 to 170 g. In the first bunch, the fruits can weigh up to 200 g. The fruits do not tend to become smaller, which is typical for some varieties after harvesting 1 or 2 full crops.
- The brushes with fruits are distinguished by a transitional structure from simple inflorescences to multi-fruited ones.
- Each brush produces 5 to 8 fruits.
- Tomatoes of the Tanya variety are round in shape, slightly flattened at the top.
- The ribbing is slightly pronounced, so the fruits ripen even and beautiful.
- The tomatoes are pinkish-scarlet in color and have no green spot on the stem.
- The skin of the tomatoes is strong, neat, and does not crack during transportation.
- The flesh inside the tomatoes is pink.
The taste is excellent, with no noticeable harshness. This distinctive flavor is due to the tomatoes' high sugar and dry matter content. Acidity is minimal.

If Tanya tomatoes are used for pickling, according to customer reviews, they don't get soggy in a barrel or bucket. The harvested fruits can be stored in a crate for several weeks. These tomatoes are ideal for long-distance transport for commercial distribution.
Tomatoes of this variety are used for fresh salads, preserves, juices, and pastes. The berries are used in soups and purees.
How to grow tomatoes?
The Tanya variety doesn't require extensive care, but favorable growing conditions are necessary. When grown in a greenhouse, tomatoes don't require much moisture, so regular ventilation is essential. When planting seedlings outdoors, choose sunny sites, not shaded by trees.

During sudden cold snaps, cover open-ground bushes with plastic overnight. Plants require ample but infrequent watering. Watering once a week is sufficient, and during periods of extreme heat, water every five days.
