Cabrio Top instructions for use, composition, dosage, and fungicide analogues

Fungal diseases affecting agricultural crops significantly reduce yields, and specialized chemicals have been developed to combat them. Cabrio Top's spectrum of action includes mycoses that affect vineyards and tomato plantings. This fungicide can be used both over large areas and in private gardens. It is important to read the instructions before using the chemical.

What is included in the composition and existing forms of release

A broad-spectrum fungicide produced by BASF contains two active ingredients, making it highly effective in combating fungal diseases.

The first ingredient, metiram, belongs to the chemical class of dithiocarbamates. Its concentration in Cabrio Top is 550 grams per 1 kg of product. The second component, pyraclostrobin, belongs to the new generation of strobilurins and has penetrating and contact action. Its concentration in 1 kg of fungicide is 50 grams.

The fungicide is available commercially as water-dispersible granules (WDG), packaged in 20 kg bags and 1 kg plastic containers. The former is preferred by farmers who need to treat large areas of crops, while the latter is suitable for homeowners with small gardens.

Mechanism of influence

The principle of action of a broad-spectrum fungicide is based on the influence of two active components included in its composition:

  1. Metiram, characterized by high penetrating ability, inhibits enzymatic processes occurring in the body of pathogens that cause fungal diseases after entering plant tissue. This halts pathogen growth and spore dissemination, and spores lose their ability to move within minutes of exposure to the active substance.
  2. Pyraclostrobin inhibits the respiration process of fungal cells and is equally effective against both powdery mildew and downy mildew fungi. Because the active ingredient quickly penetrates plant tissue, it is not affected by precipitation occurring several hours after application.

To prevent the development of resistance, pyraclostrobin is combined with an active substance from a different chemical class, in this case metiram.

What plants is it used for?

The broad-spectrum fungicide "Cabrio Topa" is designed to protect grapes and tomatoes from various fungal diseases. It is effective against anthracnose, rubella, mildew, and black spot.

Farmers and gardeners who have already tested the fungicide on their crops have highlighted several advantages of the chemical:

  • the speed of penetration of active components into crop tissues and resistance to atmospheric precipitation;
  • the ability to use the product both for therapeutic purposes, in case of severe plant infestation, and for the prevention of infestation;
  • the speed of dissolution of granules in water and the convenience of the formulation - during the preparation of the working fluid there is no dust that can penetrate the human respiratory tract and cause irritation;
  • long period of protective action (up to 2 weeks), which allows you to increase the time between treatments;
  • no danger to beneficial insects, in particular bees, as well as to plants that have been treated with fungicide;
  • low risk of developing resistance due to the two active ingredients included in the composition, belonging to different chemical classes;
  • the possibility of using the product in tank mixtures after testing;
  • relatively low cost of the drug.

However, Cabrio Top has several drawbacks. Firstly, the list of crops it can be used on is limited, and secondly, it is quite toxic to the person performing the treatment.

Calculation of consumption

The instructions included with the product indicate the fungicide consumption rates and the rules for its use.

The dosage of the chemical for different plants is indicated in the table:

Culture Fungicide rate (gram per 1 square meter) Working fluid consumption
Tomatoes 0.2 100 ml per square meter
Grape 0.2 40 ml per square area

Terms of Use

Before treating plants, prepare a working solution consisting of 20 grams of granules and 10 liters of clean water. Stir the mixture until the fungicide is completely dissolved. The first spraying is recommended before the crops begin to bloom, and if necessary, repeat the treatment two weeks later. A total of three treatments per season are recommended.

If more frequent spraying is required, fungicides with a different mode of action, such as Fastac or Delan, are used. This will help prevent the development of resistance.

Safety precautions

Since the chemical is quite toxic to humans, safety precautions must be followed when handling it. Wear full-body clothing and rubber gloves. Protect your respiratory tract with a mask or respirator. After spraying the plants, wash all clothing and hang it outside to air. Farmers must shower with detergent.

How toxic is it?

The fungicide belongs to the 2nd class of toxicity for humans and the 3rd class for beneficial insects.

Is compatibility possible?

After a compatibility test, the fungicide is approved for use in tank mixes with most pesticides. The only exceptions are highly acidic and alkaline solutions.

How and how long can it be stored?

When stored according to the manufacturer's recommended conditions, the fungicide has a shelf life of 3 years from the date of manufacture. Store the chemical in a well-ventilated storage area, away from direct sunlight. Keep the product out of reach of children and pets.

Substitute products

If necessary, the drug "Cabrio Top" can be replaced with chemicals with a similar mechanism of action, for example, "Falcon" or "Bravo".
