In August, it's time to make sweet preserves for the winter using garden fruits. Apple jams are the most popular choice. Recipes for apple jam with lemon are recommended. This dessert looks beautiful and is beneficial in winter, when the body lacks vitamins.
Features of winter preparation of apple jam with lemon
After harvesting apples, you'll want to preserve them for the winter, not just fresh. After all, you can only enjoy the fruit for three months. So, it's worth making apple jam. Apple pieces preserved in sugar syrup will be amber-colored and delicious, while preserving their nutritional value. You can add lemon to the syrup, which will add a tart flavor to sweet apples.
Selecting and preparing the main ingredients
The main ingredient in jam is apples. Choose undamaged, ripe fruit. Cooking should be done in wedges. Therefore, wash the apples thoroughly and remove the cores. The remaining portion is sliced.
The lemon needs to have its seeds and white, dense veins removed.
It is better to cook food in a special pan and stir constantly with a wooden spoon to prevent burning.

Sterilization of containers
Glass jam containers should be 0.7-1.0 liters in capacity. Avoid jars with cracks or chips. After thoroughly washing the container, sterilize it using:
- oven;
- steamer;
- multicooker;
- a pot of boiling water.
The jars should be held over steam for 10 minutes. Use lacquered lids for sealing; they are also sterilized in the oven along with the jars. Jam is stored well in a cellar under nylon lids.
Popular apple-lemon treat recipes
There are many ways to cook apples with lemon for the winter. To prevent the apple slices from becoming overcooked and mushed, it's best to prepare the sugar syrup first.

Traditional cooking method
Here's a quick way to make an apple dessert for the winter:
- Boil 1 kilogram of sugar and a glass of water to make syrup until it becomes clear.
- 2 kilograms of apples are peeled, seeded and cut into even slices.
- Dip the prepared fruit pieces into the syrup.
- Bring to a boil over medium heat, reducing heat once foam appears.
- Skim off the foam and, stirring, cook until done.
- Add pieces of 2 lemons.
- After 5 minutes, remove from heat.
After thoroughly mixing the apple and lemon mixture, place it in jars.

Recipe with lemon zest added
For those who enjoy a savory jam, add lemon zest to the syrup along with the apples. Peel the zest from the citrus fruits with a grater. After simmering the apple slices in sugar syrup until translucent, add the zest. Then, after stirring, add the lemon pieces without the seeds. Cook for a few minutes and remove from heat. Let cool slightly before transferring to a container.

With walnuts
Spicy and surprisingly tasty jam is made from:
- kilograms of winter apples;
- lemon;
- 150 grams of peeled walnuts.
Place diced apples, lemon wedges, 2-3 allspice peas, and a bay leaf in a saucepan. Add 600 grams of sugar and half a glass of water.
Stir gently, place on the stove, and bring to a boil. After simmering for 10-15 minutes, remove from heat and let sit for half an hour. Remove the spices.
Add lightly fried pieces of nuts in a dry frying pan and cook for 20 minutes.

With vanilla and cinnamon
Sprinkle the prepared apple and lemon slices with sugar. Let them sit for 20 minutes, then simmer. You can use half a lemon instead of a whole one. You can also slice half an orange.
Boil the fruit pieces for 40-45 minutes, stirring constantly. Then, 5 minutes before the end of the cooking time, add a teaspoon of cinnamon and vanilla.
The dessert is cooked to completion and then placed into jars.
With ginger
Make syrup from a kilogram of sugar. Once it becomes clear, add apples to the syrup in a 1:1 ratio. It's best to soak the apples in the juice of one lemon. Simmer for 5-10 minutes. Meanwhile, grate the ginger root. The root should be about 6 centimeters long. Add the pulp of one lemon along with the grated ginger.

Cook for half an hour after boiling. It's recommended to skim off any foam regularly.
Delicate and transparent apple jam in slices
You can get a delicate apple-lemon mixture by sprinkling sliced fruit with sugar overnight. In the morning, stir and place on the stove. Once boiling, simmer for 8-10 minutes.
In a multicooker
This household appliance will help you cook a winter treat quickly, without wasting time or effort.
Place 1 kilogram of apple and lemon pieces into the bowl, one at a time. You'll need 1 kilogram of sugar. Be sure to add a quarter cup of water. Stir everything together, then turn on the "Stewing" setting.
It takes 30-40 minutes to cook.

Five-Minute Recipe
To make the syrup, take half the amount of sugar and add a little water. The syrup is ready when it's clear. Pour it over the prepared apple and lemon slices and let it simmer overnight. The next day, add the remaining sugar and bring to a boil. After 5 minutes, remove from the heat and let cool. Repeat this process twice.
Amber with lemon
To make a beautiful amber dessert, take a lemon and an orange with the peel. Chop all the fruit into pieces, removing the seeds and hard cores. Sprinkle everything with sugar and let it sit for 3-4 hours.

Now place the saucepan over medium heat and bring to a boil. Skim off any foam by reducing the heat. Stir the treat for 40 minutes.
You can cook the fruit mass in 3-4 stages for 10 minutes with a break of 3 hours.
Thick apple jam with citrus
For thick jam, apples with a high pectin content are needed. Antonovka and Semerenko varieties are best.

Peel the apples. Don't throw the peel away, but place it in a cheesecloth bag. Pour half a glass of water into a saucepan and top with a kilogram of peeled and coarsely chopped apples. Lower the cheesecloth bag so that the strings are visible. Cook at a boil for 20 minutes. Once the apples are soft, remove the saucepan from the heat.
Remove the cheesecloth bag and drain the fruit pieces of excess liquid. Then puree the fruit through a sieve or in a blender.
For every kilogram of apples, add 600 grams of sugar and sprinkle it over the apple mixture. Add the juice of 1 lemon.
Simmer the jam for a long time over low heat. You can also use the oven. Spread the apple mixture in a thin layer on a baking sheet and place it in an oven preheated to 200 degrees Celsius. Keep it there for 1 hour, reducing the temperature by 50 degrees Celsius.
It is recommended to place the jam into jars while it is hot.

Duration and storage conditions of canned food
Apple and citrus jam is stored under regular lids in a cool place and eaten throughout the winter.
You can also prepare a treat by twisting it, but you need to make sure that the lids are varnished.
The optimal storage temperature for preserves is up to +5°C. Jam stored at room temperature will not spoil if stored in well-sterilized jars.
