The Zhenaros f1 tomato was developed by breeders at the Dutch firm DE RUITER ZODEN. This hybrid variety is recommended for cultivation in photoperiod zone 3. The plant was registered in 1998. This variety is suitable for summer, fall, and extended cultivation.
Consumers value this tomato variety for its excellent taste. Farmers note the plant's resilience to significant temperature fluctuations, heavy rainfall, and other adverse climatic conditions. The hybrid was added to the Russian state register in 2002.
Brief information about the plant
The characteristics and description of the Zhenaros variety are as follows:
- This tomato bush has an average number of branches and leaves.
- The plant's leaves are small, slightly corrugated, and yellow-green in color.
- The first inflorescences (they have a simple structure) appear above the 9th or 10th leaf, and the subsequent ones develop at intervals of 3 leaves.
- The bush of this variety grows up to 0.7 m.
- The fruits of this tomato variety have a dense structure. Their shape is approximately spherical, but most are slightly flattened.
- Zhenaros tomatoes have a slightly ribbed surface and glossy skin. The base of the fruit is smooth, with a smooth top.
- This tomato can have up to 6 nests. The fruits are red, while unripe specimens are green with a small dark spot near the stalk.

This tomato is a medium-ripening variety, ripening between 100 and 124 days after planting. The fruits of this tomato range in weight from 0.11 to 0.15 kg, but occasionally specimens weighing 200–270 g are found. The yield is quite high, reaching up to 13 kg/m².

Farmer reviews suggest that this tomato grows well in open ground in southern Russia. When grown in greenhouses in the north and central regions of the country, the yield of the Zhenaros tomato can increase to 20 kg/m² due to extended rotation.
Gardeners note the hybrid's good resistance to diseases such as tobacco mosaic, fusarium, late blight, cladosporiosis, and verticillium wilt. The plant also tolerates root-knot nematodes well.

How to grow a tomato of the described variety?
A good harvest is best grown in greenhouses, although in warmer climates, Zhenaros can be grown outdoors. To ensure healthy seedlings, the seeds are planted in pots with a general-purpose soil type. The seeds are placed at a depth of no more than 20 mm. They are then covered with plastic film. The temperature in the room containing the seeds should be maintained at no less than 19°C.

The plants need to be watered regularly. When the first shoots appear, it's recommended to illuminate them with a special lamp.
After planting the seedlings in the beds, form a bush from 1-2 stems. The seedlings are hardened off before planting and then planted in nests (0.5 x 0.4 m) in the beds. There should be no more than 4 tomato plants of this type per square meter.
During the growing season, water the plants as needed, using warm water. Loosen the soil and weed the beds at the scheduled times. During the summer, it is recommended to fertilize the bushes with a complex fertilizer containing potassium and phosphorus at least 4-5 times.

Although the plant is unpretentious and resistant to various diseases, it is not able to resist garden pests. Therefore, at the first appearance of various pests, it is recommended to spray tomato leaves with special preparations.
Zhenaros tomatoes are used in various preserves and make a great addition to vegetable salads. These fruits are used to make high-quality tomato paste, and on an industrial scale, juices and various vegetable purees.

I like this tomato, I started growing it not long ago, it's a sweet and aromatic variety. The seedlings have responded well to slight temperature fluctuations. I only use BioGrow.
