The Torpedo tomato is considered a hybrid variety. It tolerates climate conditions and temperature fluctuations. The plant can be grown both in a greenhouse and in the open ground. Below are the characteristics and description of the Torpedo f1 variety.
Description of the Torpedo tomato
Characteristics of the Torpedo variety:
- the plant belongs to the determinate species;
- leaves are dark green, medium sized;
- the tomato has an intermediate inflorescence;
- the peduncle has an articulation;
- Torpedo tomatoes are pink in color, cylindrical in shape, resembling a torpedo;
- the skin is dense, smooth, shiny, does not crack;
- the fruit in cross-section has about 2-3 nests;
- the weight of 1 tomato is 60-100 g;
- the plant yield is high and amounts to 3.3 kg/m²;
- The plant is resistant to diseases such as late blight and root rot.

The plant's bushes grow up to 60 cm tall. The branches have few leaves (unlike other varieties). The plant's bush is trained early after planting. The period from seedling maturation to harvest is approximately 100 days. A trained cluster of this plant produces approximately 5 tomatoes.
One bush can yield approximately 4 kg of fruit. The tomatoes ripen quickly. The plant requires little care or complex agricultural practices. Torpedo F1 is considered one of the best tomato varieties. It can be grown even in small garden plots, yet still yields a large harvest.

The plant should be grown from seedlings. Before sowing, the seeds should be treated with a potassium permanganate solution and then rinsed with boiled water. This is necessary to prevent the development of various diseases.
Seeds should be planted at a depth of 0.5 cm. The growing room should be maintained at a temperature of 18 to 25 ºC. Seedlings should ripen within 5 days.
Once the seedlings begin to develop and the first 2-3 leaves appear on the stem, pinch them off. After this, regularly fertilize the plants with mineral fertilizers, water, loosen the soil, and harden off the seedlings.

Seedlings should be planted in the soil in late May or early June, when frosts have passed. Planting occurs after the first cluster blooms. By this time, tomatoes are 65 days old. Before planting, the soil must be prepared.
To do this, add humus to the holes where the seedlings will be planted and water the soil. After this, water the tomatoes as they grow. Watering is done infrequently, but with large amounts of water. It is also necessary to fertilize regularly.

What they say about tomatoes
Reviews from those who have planted the Torpedo variety are mostly positive. Gardeners note the tomatoes' excellent taste and high yield. Vegetable growers note that the tomatoes require staking and shaping.

Svetlana, Smolensk:
"I've been growing Torpedo tomatoes for three years now. I initially planted other varieties, but now I've settled on this one. It produces a high yield. The tomatoes are very tasty. I use the fruits raw, in salads, dressings, sauces, gravies, tomato puree, and in various dishes and side dishes. They can be pickled, marinated, fried, and boiled."
Grigory, Kemerovo:
"Overall, I'm pleased with the variety. I've been planting these tomatoes in my garden for about five years now. The fruits are delicious both fresh and canned. The main thing is to remember to fertilize them during the growing season to ensure a good harvest."
