Description of the Sweet Girl variety and growing recommendations

The Sweet Girl tomato is a hybrid variety developed by breeders several years ago. It ripens early and produces high yields. Fruits appear on the bushes almost simultaneously. Sweet Girl tomatoes are used for canning and ketchup production. They are also good in salads and for making tomato paste.

Characteristics of the variety

The characteristics and description of the variety are as follows:

1. The plant produces its first harvest 90-94 days after sowing. If tomatoes are grown outdoors, the ripening period increases to 100-102 days.
2. The Sweet Girl tomato yield is 0.5–0.6 kg per bush. To preserve the sweetness of the fruit, it is recommended to pick them from the vines when they turn red.
3. The fruits of this variety are oblong oval-shaped. They are covered with a thin but smooth skin. The flesh is quite dense and sweet.
4. The weight of 1 fruit is 18-20 g. Tomatoes can withstand long-term transportation and storage.
5. The plant grows to a height of 0.8 to 1.0 m. The leaves are quite large and dark green. Sweet Girl is characterized by a small number of leaves on the bush.

Complex clusters form on the branches. Each cluster bears 15 to 18 red fruits. Some gardeners grow Sweet Girl for ornamental purposes. This is facilitated by the plant's long fruiting period. With proper cultivation practices, 2.5-3 kg of fruit can be harvested per square meter in July and August.

According to gardeners, this variety doesn't require staking or side shoot removal, as its low bushes make it easy to care for. The Sladkaya Devochka tomato variety is recommended for cultivation in central Russia and in greenhouses throughout Siberia.

Growing a determinant

Seeds are purchased at specialty stores. They are planted in boxes, buried 2 cm deep in the soil. Seedlings appear in 6-7 days. The seedlings are pricked out when two leaves have developed.

The room temperature should be maintained at no less than 22°C. After seedlings germinate, they are hardened off for 1-2 weeks. In the greenhouse, the soil is prepared in advance by adding nitrogen fertilizer or manure.

Although the bush is quite compact and doesn't take up much space in the garden, no more than four bushes should be planted per square meter. The plant can regulate its own growth. Fruiting clusters on this tomato variety appear when the sixth leaf is formed.

The bushes of the Sladkaya devochka variety are planted in a greenhouse, having prepared holes or furrows 0.15 m deep for them in advance.

Tomatoes should be watered regularly, but with moderate amounts, otherwise the roots will rot. After each watering, using warm water, it is recommended to loosen the soil under the stems.

To obtain a good harvest, it is necessary to add complex fertilizers (nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium) to the soil every 10 days.

The greenhouse should be constantly ventilated, while maintaining a comfortable temperature for tomatoes (+23-25 ​​°C).

To protect against viral and fungal infections, it is recommended to spray a solution of chemicals on the leaves, which will protect the bushes from infection.

If various harmful insects, their pupae, or caterpillars appear, use pesticides. When harvesting, pick fully reddened fruits. Only these vegetables can be used in dietary nutrition. They are sweet in taste and contain substances that improve heart and vascular function. Scientists have found that the "Sladkaya Devochka" variety, when consumed regularly, can suppress cancer in its early stages.
