Instructions for use of the fungicide Abrusta from DuPont, dosage

Grain crops play a vital role in providing nutrition for people and livestock. Humanity cannot survive without these crops, as famine threatens even in the 21st century. Under these conditions, we must not allow diseases to destroy such a valuable and important harvest. An innovative development, the fungicide Abrusta from DuPont, is helping us achieve this.

What is included in the composition and existing forms of release

The world-famous company Dupont has created an innovative fungicide, Abrusta, which uses two active ingredients:

  1. Penthiopyrad (150 grams per liter) belongs to a new class of pyrazole carboxamides, or SDHIs. It inhibits a specific enzyme, SDH, that blocks the cellular respiration of the pathogen, leading to its death.
  2. Cyproconazole (60 grams per liter) from the triazole class is a systemic substance that combats scab, rust, powdery mildew and spotting.

The use of two substances in "Abrust" leads to greater effectiveness of the drug and reduces the risk of resistance in plant pathogens.

The product is produced in the form of a suspension concentrate, or KS, supplied in five-liter plastic canisters with a tight-fitting cap.

Mechanism of action

Penthiopyrad provides the following results:

  1. Increased photosynthesis.
  2. Improves the absorption of nitrogen fertilizers.
  3. Optimizes water use.
  4. Helps plants fight drought.

Cyproconazole helps to achieve the following results:

  1. Provides protective and healing effects.
  2. Promotes healthy plantings.
  3. Controls a wide range of pathogens.
  4. Has the longest period of action.
  5. Spreads quickly throughout the plant.

The two substances in Abrust act in parallel, providing a systemic, contact and protective effect on plants.

Purpose of the product

Abrusta is used to treat spring and winter wheat and barley, combating powdery mildew, septoria, rust, helminthosporiosis, and other dangerous fungal diseases. It can also be successfully used to treat fruit crops such as apples and pears, for example, against scab.

Using "Abrusta" not only eliminates fungal pathogens, but also strengthens the plants' own immunity, making them more resistant to negative environmental influences.

Calculation of consumption

The application rate is 0.7-1 liter of "Abrusta" per hectare of crops. The working solution consumption rate is 200-300 liters per hectare.

Instructions for using the fungicide

The working solution is prepared immediately before treatment of crops; it remains active for 24 hours. A maximum of two treatments are permitted per season, with a minimum waiting period of 30 days.

If "Abrusta" is used in the southern regions of Russia on barley, it is recommended to limit the application to a single application.

Safety precautions

The fungicide "Abrusta" is classified as hazard class 3 for humans and class 3 for bees. In both cases, the product is considered low-hazard to both humans and pollinating insects. It should not be used during bee flight or in the immediate vicinity of apiaries. Otherwise, the following safety guidelines should be observed when using the product:

  1. Wearing special clothing and personal protective equipment (goggles, mask or respirator, latex or rubber gloves) when working with Abrusta.
  2. No food, drinks or smoking during treatment with the drug.
  3. Take a shower and wash with soap after each use of the product.

If the fungicide comes into contact with exposed skin, mucous membranes, or eyes, it should be washed off with plenty of water as quickly as possible. It usually doesn't cause any adverse reactions, but if you feel unwell, seek medical attention.

Substitute products

Products containing the same active ingredients as Abrusta can be considered full-fledged substitutes. Since the drug is innovative, there are currently no full-fledged alternatives.

However, fungicides containing cyproconazole and penthiopyrad can partially fulfill the functions of Abrusta. The latter is used in Fontelis, KS, but is not imported into the Russian Federation. Cyproconazole is used in the fungicide Skor, KE.
