Manufacturers create herbicides with either non-selective or selective action. Agro-Light is an imidazoline herbicide with both systemic and contact penetration. To maximize its effectiveness against weeds, the product is incorporated into the soil to a depth of 3 to 5 cm. The advantage of Agro-Light concentrate is its favorable balance of quality and price.
Composition and existing forms of release
The herbicide "Agro-Light" is produced in the form of a water-soluble concentrate containing two active ingredients:
- 33 g/l imazamox – stops the growth of weeds 3-4 hours after irrigation;
- 15 g/l of imazapyr inhibits the growth of both young and mature weeds. It remains in the topsoil for an extended period, preventing seed germination.
The concentrate is available in five-liter plastic canisters. The effectiveness of the herbicide depends on the quality and composition of the soil.
Pros and cons
The advantage of the concentrate is that crops only need to be irrigated once to eliminate weeds. The product also has other advantages:
- inhibits weed growth throughout the growing season;
- creates favorable conditions for the growth of cultivated plants;
- The product works on soils after any form of treatment.
One of the disadvantages is that the drug's effectiveness remains unchanged for a long period of time in the absence of precipitation.
What plants does it affect and how does it work?
It is effective in killing annual grasses and broadleaf weeds. Notably, the active ingredients damage plants (block protein synthesis) upon contact with leaves, stems, and roots. As a result, the weeds die.
Calculation of consumption
To properly dilute the herbicide concentrate, several factors must be taken into account: sunflower seeding density, soil type, and soil moisture. On average, the solution consumption is 200-350 liters per hectare.
How to prepare a working solution
The concentrate is diluted with water. It is recommended to follow the water to herbicide ratio specified by the manufacturer on the packaging.
How to use the drug
At the initial stage of weed development, spray them as soon as 2-4 leaves have grown. Agro-Light is used on hybrids and various sunflower varieties resistant to imidazolines. The product begins to work 3.5-4 hours after application.
Safety rules
The herbicide is considered low-toxic; however, when preparing the working solution and spraying plants, protect your eyes and skin (wear safety goggles, rubber gloves, and long sleeves). Wash your face with running water and wash your hands with soap after spraying the herbicide solution.
Phytotoxicity
Agro-Light concentrate is used to protect sunflower crops from many weeds. Therefore, several nuances must be considered when developing a crop rotation schedule. Rye or wheat is sown after 4-5 months. Oats, peas, barley, and corn are sown after 9 months. After 19 months, the area is planted with carrots, cucumbers, potatoes, tomatoes, onions, and lettuce. Only after two years can the area be sown with beet and rapeseed seeds.
When treating crops, it is necessary to ensure that crops sensitive to the preparation are not planted closer than 1500 m to the border of the treated area.
Possible compatibility
Agro-Light is quite effective in controlling weeds in sunflower crops, eliminating the need for other herbicides. Insecticides, fungicides, and growth regulators are also avoided.
Expiration date and storage rules
The concentrate retains its performance properties for three years when stored at a specific temperature (4-25°C). It is recommended to store the concentrate in a separate, dry, ventilated area (in a sealed container).
Analogues
To suppress weed growth in sunflower crops, you can use various herbicides from other manufacturers. Popular options include Euroshans, Euro-Land, Captora, Euro-Lightning, and Soteira.
To protect crops from weeds, various herbicides are used. When choosing a product, consider its characteristics, advantages, and disadvantages. If applied correctly and crop rotation is followed, it will not harm other crops.
