Every year, weeds cause significant damage to fields planted with various cereal crops. The best way to prevent losses is to treat them with specialized herbicides. One such herbicide is the two-component, broad-spectrum herbicide "Asterix." It combats even the most stubborn broadleaf weeds.
Composition and existing forms of release
The herbicide is a member of the aryloxyalkanecarboxylic acid class. It contains two active components:
- 2-ethiohexyl ether, in the amount of 300 grams per liter of substance;
- florasulam, in the amount of 6.25 grams per liter of substance.
Asterix is available as a concentrated suspension in a 5-liter canister.
Advantages
The following advantages of this drug can be noted:
- selective action of active substances;
- destruction of a large number of different types of weeds;
- complete suppression of growth and destruction of weeds, guaranteeing the absence of their re-sprouting;
- the effect is achieved in the shortest possible time;
- can be used at any stage of growth;
- no restrictions on seeding the soil after processing.

Mode of action
Florasulam penetrates plant cells through the skin and disrupts most of the vital internal chains. This triggers necrosis of the plant's vegetative organs and chlorosis. When the ether penetrates the plant, it disrupts photosynthesis and initiates the breakdown of protein structures. The plant loses its ability to obtain moisture from the environment, causing it to wither and die.
Calculation of consumption for different plants
The volume of herbicide for preparing the working solution depends on the type of crop being treated:
| Herbicide volume (ml/hectare) | Type of weed | Processed grain |
| 400-600 ml | Annual weeds, dicotyledonous weeds | Spring wheat, winter wheat, winter barley (400 ml is used in the weed germination phase, 600 ml – in the active growth phase or if particularly resistant weed species predominate) |
| 400-600 ml | Common reed, barnyard grass, creeping wheatgrass, bluegrass, crabgrass, quinoa, plantain. | Corn (the crop is treated in the 3-5 leaf phase) |
| 600 ml | Annual cereal, dicotyledonous weeds | Sweet and feed corn (5-7 leaf formation phase) |
For 1 hectare of crop you will need 250-300 liters of solution.

Rules for preparing a working solution
The working solution for treating the crop should be prepared 30-40 minutes before use. Pour 50 liters of water into a container or tank, add the required amount of concentrate, mix thoroughly, and add the remaining water. Mix again and begin spraying.
Instructions for use
Before starting work, prepare the area for the working solution, then don personal protective equipment. Dilute the concentrate according to the table, taking into account the crop type and the weed's growth stage, and then begin treatment within 15 minutes.
Security measures
Treatment should only be carried out on a dry, windless day. If crops are located in close proximity to neighboring plots, their owners must be notified before using the herbicide.

The treatment must be carried out using personal protective equipment: disposable thick gloves, a respirator with a filter, safety glasses, and overalls. After finishing the work, disposable items should be disposed of, and reusable items should be thoroughly rinsed under running water.
If the solution comes into contact with mucous membranes or exposed skin, rinse the damaged tissues or organs under running water for at least 10-12 minutes.
Degree of toxicity
The herbicide "Asterix" is safe for humans, pets, and farm animals. It may harm insects and honey plants. It is toxic to fish and other aquatic life, so disposing of any remaining working solution in open natural bodies of water is strictly prohibited.

Possible compatibility
The product retains its effectiveness when used in combination with similar herbicides, crop growth promoters, and a wide range of mineral fertilizers. Before using the product together, conduct a test tube compatibility test by mixing the ingredients in equal proportions in the same container.
How and how long can it be stored?
Asterix herbicide has a shelf life of no more than two years from the date of manufacture. Storage is permitted only in a separate area, safe for children and animals.
Storage in close proximity to food products is prohibited.
