Controlling the insects that appear in the garden with the onset of warm weather is a challenge for every gardener. It's extremely difficult to find a product that will provide long-term protection against various types of pests, destroy their eggs, and penetrate the bark of fruit trees to prevent the insects from spreading. Now such a product is available, and information about the benefits of Profilaktin will be useful for both novice and experienced gardeners.
Description of the product
August JSC specializes in the production of plant protection products. Profilaktin is a new product for controlling garden pests. It is produced as a microemulsion concentrate consisting of the active ingredient and mineral oils. It is classified as a stomach and contact pesticide and has acaricidal, ovicidal, insecticidal, and pesticidal properties.
The active ingredients of the drug are:
- malathion (karbofos) - 13 grams/liter;
- Vaseline oil - 658 grams/liter.
"Profilaktin" is approved for use in private households and is supplied to retail chains in plastic bottles with a capacity of 0.5 liters and 1 liter and polymer canisters with a capacity of 5 liters.
Each package of the product has a bright label containing information about the composition and purpose of the product, the manufacturer's instructions on the rules for using the product and safety precautions during work.
Operating principle and purpose
"Profilaktin" is used to treat garden trees and shrubs in early spring, before bud break, killing overwintering insects. It destroys adult mites, egg clutches, and various types of mites. It is suitable for spraying pome fruit trees (apples, pears, quince), stone fruit trees (cherries, cherries, plums, apricots, peaches), and berry bushes.
Important: This product is not suitable for vegetable beds, berry patches (strawberries), or grapes. The Vaseline oil in the product forms a thin, airtight film, killing pests from lack of oxygen. The oil dissolves the chitinous protective shells—the insects' primary defense.
Malathion (malathion) in this product is toxic to pests when ingested, causing death. However, the product is non-phytotoxic and, at the concentration used, poses little risk to pets and humans. The formation of an oily film on plant parts provides protection against fungal infections.
The advantages of using Profilaktin on a plot are considered to be:
- impact on various types of garden pests, regardless of their stage of development;
- the ability to carry out treatments at temperatures from +5 °C;
- the drug can be used in any weather;
- The product is highly effective – one spray is enough to destroy wintering insects.
The disadvantages of the drug include:
- high cost;
- the possibility of developing resistance.
The interaction of the product's components enhances its destructive ability.
Calculation of consumption
Trees and shrubs are treated with a working solution of the product. It is prepared before spraying and stored for no more than 24 hours. The prepared emulsion does not require additional stirring for 6 hours.
Pour 1/3 of the calculated amount of water into the mixing container. With the mixer running, add the oil emulsion concentrate, continuing to stir, and then add the remaining water. Stir the ready-to-use product for another 7-10 minutes.

Gardening can be resumed 3 days after spraying.
Terms of Use
Spraying is carried out after the snow melts, before the buds open. Any type of sprayer is suitable for gardens; the solution is finely dispersed and won't clog the sprinkler. Choose a dry, sunny day with no wind for treatment. Do not use in water protection zones of bodies of water.
Safety precautions
The product belongs to hazard class 3 (moderate toxicity) for humans and hazard class 2 for bees.
After treatment, rinse the sprayer to remove any residual product and dry it. Next, shower or wash exposed skin with soap and change clothes. Rinse the items worn during treatment under running water and wash them.
What to do in case of poisoning
Remove the victim from the work area, call a doctor, or transport the person to a hospital. Medical personnel must be informed of the name of the drug and its ingredients.
Is compatibility possible?
Do not use in combination with other drugs.
Storage terms and conditions
Profilaktin should be stored tightly sealed in the manufacturer's labeled packaging. Store in a cool, dry place away from food, animal feed, and other medications. Keep out of the reach of children and pets. The medication should be used within 2 years of the date of manufacture.
What to replace it with
The drug's analogues are: "Fufanon 570"; "Karbofos"; "30 plus", they contain malathion.
