The Yantarny 530 tomato is considered a hobby variety. This means that it was developed not by breeders from scientific institutions, whose work is primarily focused on developing plants for industrial vegetable growing, but by gardeners familiar with the challenges of growing tomatoes in central Russia.
General characteristics of the plant
The Yantarny 530 tomato variety is a determinate variety. This characteristic and description indicate that these tomatoes are early ripening (90-100 days from sowing to harvest). The bushes are short, rarely reaching 40 cm, but their compact size doesn't hinder a bountiful harvest.
Description:
- Each small bush is capable of producing 2-3 kg of ripe fruit.
- Determinate varieties are grown in dense plantings (6-8 plants per 1 m²), so the yield can be considered high, especially if the growing recommendations are followed.
- A distinctive feature of the Yantarny 530 variety is its generous yield.
- Five to six fruit clusters form on the bush. After this, the plant stops growing tall, and the fruits quickly fill out and ripen within two to three weeks.

This fruiting method makes Yantarny 530 tomatoes resistant to late blight and macrosporiosis, even in cold and rainy summers: by the time the prolonged rains begin in July, the harvest is usually fully harvested. However, if desired, a second harvest can be obtained from the same area: by not removing the fruited bushes, but waiting for the shoots to form at the bottom of the stems.
Compact bushes are ideal for growing on balconies. Vegetable growers also note that Yantarny 530 thrives in containers. The elegant clusters of golden fruits make a wonderful addition to a balcony.

Taste and technical qualities of fruits
The Yantarny 530 variety belongs to the yellow-fruited tomato group. Both the skin and flesh of the tomatoes acquire a rich yellow color when ripe. The fruits are small (50-70 g), round, smooth, or with slight ribbing at the stems.
The taste of tomatoes is characterized as sweet. All yellow-fruited tomatoes are characterized by a virtually complete lack of acidity and a fairly high sugar content (up to 6%). The dessert-like flavor of the fruits makes them attractive for eating fresh, in salads, and as light summer appetizers.
Thanks to their small size, Yantarny 530 tomatoes are ideal for whole canning. These golden tomatoes can be pickled and brined as part of a colorful vegetable platter. Their sweet flavor pairs well with vinegar-based marinades.

The skin isn't particularly dense, but it withstands heat well during canning. If the fruit is carefully packed, it's unlikely to burst in the jar. The dense flesh doesn't lose its quality during canning, so the preserves always look good on the table.
Tomatoes transport well. This variety has good shelf life and the ability to ripen after picking.
Features of agricultural technology
Like all early-ripening varieties, Yantarny 530 is best grown from seedlings. This allows for ripe fruit to be harvested as early as mid- to late June. Sow approximately 60 days before planting in the permanent location.
When sowing seeds, level the soil in the container and keep it well-moistened. Cover the sown seeds with a thin layer of dry soil (0.5 cm). Cover the container with glass and place it in a warm place (+27°C). Seedlings will appear within 1 week.

As leaves form (1-2 are sufficient), the bushes are pricked out into pots or a common box at a distance of 7-10 cm. They are transplanted to their permanent location in late May or early June. These tomatoes are most often grown outdoors.
After planting, apply a complete tomato fertilizer or Nitrophoska at a rate of 1 tablespoon per 20 plants. Dissolve the granules in 10 liters of water and water each plant individually (0.5 liters). For a good harvest, repeat the application when 1-2 flower clusters form. During fruit filling, it is necessary to ensure that there is sufficient moisture: abundant fruiting requires a lot of water.
Bushes can be trained into a single stem. This is done in dense plantings. In this case, the plants are pinched and tied to a support. If planting is standard, using a 40x60 cm pattern, the bushes do not require pinching or tying. The short stems will sag under the weight of numerous fruits, but the variety is disease-resistant.
The Yantarny 530 tomato variety is deservedly popular among gardeners. Those who have planted these tomatoes are pleased with both the ease of cultivation and the yield.

My first personal experience growing tomatoes. My tomato plant performed remarkably well during the warm summer of 2018. I planted it by chance (I was given some seedlings) very late in June. I grew it without water (there's none on the plot) and without any cover in the open ground. I mulched it. Fruit set was excellent and I had no problems with any diseases. The bushes were covered with small tomatoes. At the end of August, I was afraid of late blight and picked the tomatoes, which were brown. After ripening, the taste was unimpressive.
