Characteristics and description of the Impala tomato variety

Description of the variety

The variety's characteristics and description indicate that the bushes grow low. They are determinate, meaning the variety has limited growth and does not require pinching. The average plant height is 70 cm. The Impala hybrid is considered versatile, making it suitable for both open-field and greenhouse cultivation. In the former case, the bushes will be around 60 cm tall, while under plastic cover, they reach up to 90 cm.

This tomato grows short and compact, but produces a large number of fruits. They form in clusters, with 3 to 5 medium-sized tomatoes. The Impala F1 tomato is considered an early variety. Tomatoes can be harvested as early as late June. However, fruit production will be gradual. You can expect a harvest from 95 to 115 days after sowing the seeds for seedlings.

The type is considered resistant to most diseases that can affect nightshades. Preventative spraying against diseases and pests is a good idea. Fertilizing is also essential for a bountiful harvest.

Although the bushes are quite compact, they don't tolerate overly dense planting. Up to six plants can be planted per square meter of well-maintained soil. This will ensure a good quantity and quality of tomatoes.

To ensure that tomatoes ripen without any interference, the bushes need to be properly trained. All extra branches, called side shoots, are removed, leaving only the two main stems. Trained bushes thrive when planted closely, and the tomatoes will ripen more quickly.

With proper cultivation techniques, yields can be very good. The maximum yield of Impala is 4 kg per bush. Planting six plants per square meter yields approximately 25 kg of aromatic fruit.
