Description of the pink tomato Pink Impression and similar hybrids

Seeds of pink-fruited hybrids bred in Japan appeared in Russia several years ago. The Pink Impression F1 tomato and related varieties have already found a following among gardeners in central Russia, Siberia, and the Far East. A distinctive feature of modern tomatoes is their adaptability to a variety of climates and growing methods.

General properties of the group

The Pink series hybrids are indeterminate. The plants are characterized by increased stem elasticity and strength, allowing them to withstand the weight of the fruits developing and ripening at the same time. The hybrids vary in the time it takes to yield their first crop, but almost all are considered early-ripening. Ripe fruits are obtained 70-100 days after sowing.

Tomato seeds

The F1 designation in the variety's name indicates that it is a hybrid plant, the result of crossing other tomatoes. It is not possible to save the seeds of a favorite hybrid for propagation, as the characteristics of the parent plant will not be preserved the following season. Gardeners must purchase hybrid tomato seeds every year, which is an obvious drawback for those growing tomatoes from their own seeds.

Pink tomato series have unlimited main stem growth. The bush can reach up to 2 meters in height. Despite its sturdy nature, the plant requires support as it grows. Staking should be done under each flower cluster.

Fruiting characteristics of hybrids

The Pink Top F1 hybrid is considered the earliest: the manufacturer’s description promises that the fruits will ripen as early as 70–75 days after sowing. Ultra-early ripening tomato intended for greenhouse cultivation and is recommended to farmers for harvesting early vegetables.

The fruit size is medium. Each tomato weighs 250-300 g, and each cluster contains 4-6 identical ovaries that grow and ripen almost simultaneously. The next cluster forms after 4-5 leaf tiers.

Growing tomatoes

The Pink series also includes other varieties with the same color characteristics:

  1. Pink Impression only appeared in the Russian State Register in 2017, although it was developed about 10 years ago. It produces high yields: 8-9 kg per bush. Tomatoes weighing 180-250 g are arranged in clusters of 5-6 on each cluster. It is an early variety, bearing fruit in 90-100 days.
  2. Pink Harvest F1 tomato. Mid-season ripening (approximately 110 days from sowing). Can be grown outdoors or in a greenhouse. Each cluster produces up to 5 fruits weighing 200-230 g. The total yield is 6-7 kg per plant.
  3. Pink Rose tomato. Early maturing (85-90 days before harvest). Fruit weight is 250-270 g, with 4-6 tomatoes per cluster. Pink Rose F1 is a versatile tomato. It can be planted in both greenhouses and gardens. The hybrid is drought-resistant and temperature-tolerant.
  4. Pink Shine F1 tomato. It's considered mid-late (at least 120 days before harvest). This variety is suitable for growing outdoors and in greenhouses, but in northern regions, it's recommended to grow it under cover only, otherwise the plant won't have time to fully produce its harvest. Each tomato weighs 210-215 g. Under good growing conditions, you can get up to 15 kg of produce per square meter.
  5. Ultra-early Pink Delight tomato. Ripens 70-75 days after sowing. Fruits are uniform, weighing 250 g, and are borne in clusters of 5-6. Suitable for both open and closed ground.
  6. Pink Moon tomato. A versatile, early-ripening variety (approximately 90 days before harvest). Compared to other varieties, it has smaller fruits, producing tomatoes weighing up to 200 g.
  7. Along with the Pink series hybrids, Sakata also produces a pink cherry tomato variety. It doesn't have its own name, but shares the same characteristics as the other hybrids. Cherry tomatoes form long clusters of small fruits (up to 60 g) that ripen simultaneously. This is convenient for farming and growing tomatoes for sale, as cherry tomatoes are often harvested together with the cluster.

All Pink hybrids are characterized by high sugar content (up to 6.5-7%). Vegetable growers note the fruit's sweet, dessert-like flavor. They are used in summer salads and gourmet appetizers, and miniature cherry tomatoes can be used to garnish alcoholic cocktails (gin, rum).

Watering tomatoes

One of the advantages of the Pink group is the lack of uneven skin and flesh color. These tomatoes have no green spots near the stem or light-colored cores. The pink skin and flesh make them beautiful and unique.

The fruits are suitable for whole canning. They are small, round, and roughly uniform in size, making them easy to store in jars. The firm flesh and tough skin prevent them from losing their shape during processing. Juice is not typically made from them, as the color will be pale, but they can be used in sauces and lecho due to their excellent flavor.

Features of agricultural technology

Seedlings may appear as early as 2-3 days after sowing. This should be taken into account when growing seedlings yourself. Seeds should be sown 60 days before planting, and for ultra-early varieties this period is reduced to 40-50 days.

Tomato sprouts

The plants don't require any special care, but 10 days before transplanting to their permanent location, the seedlings should be fed with a complex fertilizer. Further feeding is recommended after 1-2 flowering clusters have formed and two weeks after that.

These varieties tolerate extreme temperatures and drought well in greenhouses. In hot and dry conditions, the fruit develops a richer flavor.
