Description of the hybrid tomato Alesi and its cultivation on your own plot

The Alesi tomato was developed by French breeders. This hybrid is an early-ripening variety. Thanks to its tough skin, this type of tomato can be transported over long distances. It is used in salads, tomato paste, and ketchup. Some gardeners preserve the fruit for the winter.

Technical data of the variety

The Alesi tomato has the following characteristics and description:

  1. From the moment the first shoots develop until full-fledged fruits are obtained, 95-105 days pass.
  2. The bushes reach a height of 150-160 cm with average internodes. The bushes produce a medium number of green leaves, slightly pointed at the tips.
  3. If Alesi F1 is grown in greenhouses, two harvests per year are possible. The tomatoes also sprout uniformly, allowing for quick harvesting with minimal losses.
  4. The plant's inflorescences are simple, collected in racemes (7 to 8 pieces in each).
  5. The fruits are ribbed spheres, weighing between 0.16 and 0.19 kg. Some gardeners report that, to increase the weight of the berries, they train the bushes into a single stem. This allows them to obtain fruits weighing between 0.25 and 0.3 kg.
  6. Ripe berries are red. The Alesi variety has no spots or other discolorations near the stem.
  7. The tomato pulp is fleshy, containing 3 to 4 seed chambers.

Fleshy tomatoes

This variety yields 7 to 9 kg of fruit per square meter. Farmers report that Alesi is resistant to many tomato diseases. However, it does have some drawbacks:

  • due to the great height of the bushes, they need to be tied to strong supports;
  • Plants are formed into 2-3 stems.

In Russia, this variety can be grown outdoors in the southern regions. In the central part of Russia and Siberia, it is recommended to grow Alesi in greenhouses.

Breeding a hybrid in a private garden

Seeds are purchased around March and then planted in boxes filled with special tomato soil. Fertilizing the sprouts (they emerge within 5 days) with nitrogen and organic fertilizers is recommended. Water the seedlings with a watering can, once a week.

Once 1-2 leaves have developed on the stems, the tomato plants are pricked out. Alesi should be planted in the greenhouse soil in the first ten days of April, when the soil is sufficiently warm and there is no risk of a sudden drop in temperature.

The planting pattern is 0.5 x 0.6 m. Tie the bushes to a trellis or place sturdy supports under the branches. Failure to do this may cause the tomato stems to break under the weight of the newly grown fruit.

Watering is done twice a week. In hot weather, watering is done two to three times more often. Warm water is poured under the tomato roots in the evening, after sunset.

When using greenhouses for growing Alesi, it is recommended to ventilate them regularly. Overheating the bushes causes 40-50% of the crop to be lost.

Fertilize the bushes twice per season. The first feeding is done when the fruit sets. This is done with potassium nitrate, organic mixtures (peat, manure), and nitrogen fertilizers. The second feeding is done with superphosphate after the first fruits appear.

To protect against various fungal and bacterial infections, the bushes should be sprayed with medicinal products that kill fungi and microbes. If a gardener wants to harvest twice a year, after harvesting the first crop, the new shoots should be treated with these products to prevent disease.

Ripe tomatoes

Alesia bushes need to be protected from aphids, Colorado potato beetles, and other garden pests. For this purpose, chemical pesticides are recommended. Insects and slugs that parasitize on plant roots can be repelled by treating the soil around tomato bushes with ash flour.

If a farmer wants to obtain an environmentally friendly product, then instead of using chemicals, they protect against diseases and pests using traditional methods, for example, watering the bushes with a soap solution.

In early February, I bought seeds of this tomato. I'm familiar with this variety; the tomatoes are very large and delicious. I set aside a special corner of my house for the seedlings, where I grew the tomatoes under UV lamps. I recently transplanted them into the garden, and all the seedlings are doing well.
