Today, the market offers a wide variety of fungicides—products used to protect and treat plants from various diseases. Most of them are not intended for use in garden plots and are intended for protecting large crops from various diseases. For example, the fungicide "Karamba" is used for the preventative and curative treatment of rapeseed, a valuable oilseed crop for food and industrial use.
What is included in the composition and dosage form
Karamba is a systemic fungicide. It is an emulsifiable concentrate with protective and therapeutic effects. It belongs to the triazole class of chemicals. The active ingredient in this fungicide is metconazole, which is present in the product at a concentration of 60 grams per liter.
It is supplied to retailers in 5-liter plastic canisters. Each package comes with detailed manufacturer's instructions, including the ingredients, instructions for use, dosage, and safety precautions.
Mechanism of operation and purpose
The product is used for treating spring and winter rapeseed crops and has a number of advantages:
- protects plantings from phomosis and alternaria;
- increases crop yield;
- has a growth-stimulating effect;
- helps improve winter hardiness of plants;
- improves the development of the root system;
Its use is safe for consumers and does not affect the quality of the harvested crop. The active ingredient, metconazole, provides fungicidal and pesticidal effects. By penetrating plant tissue, metconazole protects it from fungal infection. When applied to infected crops, the product disrupts the fungal intercellular membranes and inhibits the biosynthesis of substances necessary for pathogen development.

Additionally, the product improves root development, prevents plants from bolting early and excessive foliage growth, optimizing crop development. It ensures uniform flowering and ripening, and prevents plant lodging.
Calculation of pesticide consumption and rules of use
The working solution of the drug is prepared strictly according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Important: Do not increase the solution's concentration on your own. Do not store it for more than 24 hours; dilute the concentrate with water before use.

To prepare the working solution, 1/3 of the calculated amount of water is poured into the tank with the mixer turned on, then the concentrated emulsion is added, without stopping stirring, water is added to the required volume.
| Plant species | Concentrate consumption | What diseases does it protect against? | Processing features, working solution consumption in liters/hectare | Number of sprays |
| Spring rape | 0.75-1 | Alternaria, Phoma | In spring, when signs of infection appear, in the stem elongation phase, when pods begin to form on the lower tier. 200-400 | 1-2 treatments |
| Winter rapeseed | 0.75-1 | Alternaria, Phoma | In autumn, when 6-8 leaves appear, in spring, when signs of infection are detected, in the stem stretching phase, when pods begin to form on the lower tier. 200-400 | 1-2 treatments |
The product adheres perfectly to plant parts and is not washed away by rain or wind. Application should be carried out in dry, cloudy weather.

Precautionary measures
This substance is classified as hazard class 2 for humans (highly toxic) and class 3 for bees. Do not use near water bodies. Work with the concentrated emulsion (preparation of the working solution) should be carried out in specially equipped areas.
Spray plants while wearing protective suits, respirators, gloves, and rubber boots. Eating and smoking are prohibited during work. Afterward, take a shower and change clothes.
In case of accidental poisoning with a fungicide (inhalation or ingestion), seek immediate medical attention. Tell your doctor the name of the product; it's best to bring the label or instructions with you.

How and how long should it be stored?
Agrochemicals are stored in specially equipped warehouses, in tightly sealed factory packaging with clearly visible information about the product's name and purpose. The warehouse must be dry, cool, and ventilated. Access to the premises is restricted, and a person responsible for storage is appointed from among engineering and technical staff. The product has a shelf life of 5 years.
Analogues
Metconazole-based products: in addition to “Karamba”, “Osiris” is presented, which contains two components, metconazole and epoxiconazole.
