Instructions for use and composition of the herbicide Axial, dosage and analogues

Using weed killers in fields and gardens not only increases crop yields but also saves labor. Removing weeds from fields saves water for irrigation and eliminates a favorable environment for the development of microorganisms that overwinter on the seeds of harmful plants. Axial is a systemic herbicide with a narrow target against grass weeds.

Composition, existing forms of release and purpose

The product contains two active ingredients: cloquintocet-mexyl (12.5 g/l) and pinoxaden (50 g/l). It is a selective herbicide. "Axial" is available as an emulsifiable concentrate, packaged in 5-liter canisters, 4 per pack.

The herbicide suppresses the development of annual cereal weeds such as:

  • barnyard millet and sowing millet;
  • varieties of bristlecone;
  • bluegrass;
  • roof fire;
  • species of foxtail and ryegrass.

Mechanism of action

"Axial" uses pinoxaden to inhibit the metabolism of wild grasses belonging to the grass family. By interfering with the synthesis of substances that perform transport functions in the plant, the weed stops growing within two days.

The effects of spraying with the herbicide "Axial" are visible within 1-2 weeks. The plant loses its green color. After 3 weeks, all weeds that emerged at the time of treatment are dead. Cloquintocet-mexil mitigates the potential toxic effects of the herbicide on the crop. It promotes the accelerated elimination of toxic substances.

Advantages and disadvantages

Axial herbicide

Axial isn't the only herbicide used to control weeds in fields and gardens. Compared to other products, it has several advantages:

  • more effective on new types of weeds;
  • acts on all cereal weeds;
  • never contributed to a reduction in the yield of protected crops;
  • Immediately after spraying, it is kept on the plant for at least half an hour in rainy weather conditions.
  • does not change its properties when mixed with 2,4-D herbicides (amines), which allows you to clear barley and wheat crops of virtually all excess vegetation;
  • acts at any stage of development of the above-ground part of the weed.

Disadvantage of "Axial": it requires adherence to certain rules of handling to avoid poisoning or allergic reactions.

Calculation of consumption

To spray 1 hectare of crop area with Axial herbicide, 200-300 liters (at least 120 liters) of working solution is required. The solution concentration depends on the weed species and its viability.

Preparation of the working mixture

Cloquintocet-mexil is almost insoluble in water, so stirring is essential during the preparation of the working solution. The procedure is as follows:

  1. Pour 1/3 of the required amount of water into the sprayer tank.
  2. Measure out the recommended dose of the herbicide "Axial" and add it to the container.
  3. Mix with a hydraulic mixer for 7-10 minutes.
  4. While continuing to stir, add the remaining water.

Terms of Use

Axial herbicide is best applied when weeds reach the 3-4 leaf stage. Treatment immediately after emergence is not recommended, as weeds emerge at different rates. This depends on the seed depth and weather conditions in winter and spring. This variation is especially noticeable during dry and cold springs. Axial herbicide is extremely lethal to young plants; however, it remains highly effective until the flag leaf emerges (just before heading).

Axial herbicide

The instructions for using the drug are simple:

  • inspect the field to determine the number and stage of development of weeds.
  • Spray the freshly prepared working solution in compliance with safety regulations.

Herbicide is applied to the same area no more than once per season. Crop rotation practices can extend the period of time the herbicide is not applied to each area.

Precautions when working

The herbicide "Axial" is moderately hazardous to humans. However, one should not knowingly harm one's health, even slightly.

Workers must be in contact with Class 3 hazard substances for no more than six hours per day. This work is permitted for men aged 18 and over, and for women aged 35 and over.

Workers must wear:

  • clothing and shoes that cover the entire body except the face;
  • headdress;
  • glasses;
  • gloves.

Axial herbicide

Clothes are stored separately from household items and washed at least once a week (if used every day).

How toxic is it?

To be fatally poisoned by the herbicide "Axial," one would need to consume at least 200 grams. It is also moderately toxic to bees. However, beekeepers must be notified four days in advance when spraying fields. Spraying after sunset will protect bees from the toxic effects. "Axial" herbicide is approved for use in private households.

Possible compatibility

In order to destroy dicotyledonous weeds belonging to the legume, nightshade, cruciferous, rose and other families in one fell swoop, it is recommended to add neutral, interacting preparations with the appropriate target to the tank mixtures of Axial.

Herbicides based on aminopyralid, triasulfuron, dicamba, and florasulam will expand the range of harmful plants that can be controlled. Axial is also compatible with most other chemicals used in agriculture, but each individual application should be tested. When preparing the working fluid, the different products are combined, pouring the prepared solutions into the tank rather than the concentrated substances.

Storage rules and shelf life

Store Axial herbicide away from homes and barns containing animals. Store under lock and key at temperatures between 0°C and +35°C. The product is usable for three years from the date of manufacture.

Similar means

Axial is an innovative product. This is its main value. Knowledge is accumulating, and approaches to creating products that are harmless to the crops being protected and humans are being refined. However, many substances with a broader spectrum of action have long been discovered, and there are cheaper options.
