Protecting grain crops from weeds allows them to grow without delay, develop better, and produce a good harvest. Let's look at the instructions for using the herbicide "Esteron," including its composition, mode of action, advantages, dosage, and consumption. We'll also discuss how to prepare and use the solution, the herbicide's toxicity, whether it can be combined with pesticides, and what alternatives it can be used.
Composition, dosage form and purpose
Esteron is manufactured by Dow AgroSciences VmbH as a concentrated emulsion containing the active ingredient 2,4-D (2-ethylhexyl ether) at a concentration of 564 g per liter. This herbicide has a selective action and is available in 20-liter canisters.
"Esteron" is used in agriculture for spraying wheat, barley, rye and corn against annual and some varieties of perennial (for example, field thistle) bilobate weeds.
Operating principle
2-ethylhexyl ether disrupts normal weed cell division, acts as an auxin-like substance, and inhibits growth. After spraying, the solution penetrates the tissue and spreads throughout the plant within an hour. Due to its rapid action, it is resistant to rain washoff. The herbicide's effect on weeds can be seen as early as the next day.
Esteron is effective even in cold and dry weather. Its effectiveness is unaffected by temperature and humidity; the herbicide's action begins at temperatures as low as 5-7°C. It decomposes quickly after application to the soil and does not limit crop rotation options.

Advantages of the product
"Esteron" as a herbicide has the following advantages:
- controls many types of weeds, including those resistant to sulfonylureas;
- destroys even overgrown plants;
- is characterized by its speed of operation;
- does not limit crop rotation;
- mixes well with other pesticides.
"Esteron" is used only for grain crops and is not used in private farms.
Calculation of consumption
For spring wheat and barley, the application rate is 0.6-0.8 liters per hectare, for winter wheat and rye – 0.7-0.8 liters per hectare, and for corn – 0.8-1 liter per hectare. Spray crops at the tillering stage (3-5 leaves for corn) and during the early stages of weed growth. The application rate is 200-300 liters per hectare. The waiting period is 2 months.

Preparation and use of the working mixture
The solution is prepared as follows: first, pour one-third to one-half of the sprayer's volume of water into the tank, then add the required amount of the product to achieve the desired concentration and stir. Then, add the remaining water to fill the tank.
For maximum effectiveness, apply the Esteron solution to the entire surface of the weeds. Sprayers producing medium-sized droplets can be used for spraying.

Precautionary measures
When handling the herbicide, wear protective equipment. This includes a respirator, goggles, and rubber gloves. Avoid contact with eyes or skin. If this occurs, rinse the affected area immediately with water. If swallowed, gargle with water.
How toxic is it?
"Esteron" has a hazard class of 2 for humans and 3 for bees. According to this classification, the herbicide is dangerous if not applied correctly. Do not use the product in fields located near bodies of water, fish farms, or water sources.
Possible compatibility
Esteron can be mixed with herbicides containing sulfonylureas. This mixture can control even overgrown weeds. The Esteron dosage can be reduced to 0.3-0.6 l/ha without affecting its effectiveness.

This herbicide can be combined with other substances and used for spraying against broadleaf weeds. It can also be mixed with fungicides, insecticides, growth regulators, and liquid fertilizers. Before mixing, check the compatibility of the products.
How to store it correctly and for how long
When stored correctly—at a room temperature of -2°C to +40°C, away from excessive humidity, and away from sunlight—the herbicide can be stored without loss of quality for 3 years. Keep away from animal feed, pharmaceuticals, household products, food, water, and organic fertilizers. Store the concentrate in its original, tightly sealed canisters.

Analogues
In agriculture, it is possible to use products containing the same active substance as Esteron: Disulam, Dartik, Lambada, Oktimet, 2-4-Daktiv, Arbalet, Modern, Prima, Oktigen, Prishans, Chistalan, Avroreks, Premiera, Zernomax, Oprichnik, Luger, Elant, Camaro, Assoluta, Svarog, Bihard, Florastar, Kornegi, Rapira, Florax, Elant Extra, Endimion.
The herbicide "Esteron" is designed to protect grain crops and corn from many types of weeds found in fields. To prevent overgrowth, a single spray during the early stages of crop and weed growth is sufficient. The herbicide is capable of controlling even mature weeds. It acts quickly, with weed suppression noticeable within 24 hours of application. Using the herbicide promotes normal crop growth and maintains yield. After its application, any crop can be sown or planted in the treated fields the following season.
