Instructions for use and composition of the herbicide Neo, dosage and analogues

Using herbicides on corn crops pays off by maintaining a clean site, promoting good plant growth, proper development, and yield. Let's look at the specifics of using the herbicide "Neo," its composition and form, its mechanism of action, and its pros and cons. We'll also explore the product's application rate, consumption rate, solution preparation sequence, and dosage, its toxicity, its compatibility with other agricultural products, storage instructions, and herbicide alternatives.

Composition, dosage form and purpose

RosAgroKhim, LLC, produces this herbicide in the form of water-dispersible granules containing the active ingredient nicosulfuron at a concentration of 750 g per liter. The granules are packaged in 0.25 kg bottles, with 40 granules per bottle. It has both systemic and selective action.

"Neo" is used to control annual and perennial weeds of the grass family and some annual bilobed species. It is also used for spraying young corn in the 3-6 leaf stage, grown for silage or grain (except for corn grown for oil).

Mechanism of action

Nicosulfuron inhibits the synthesis of the enzyme acetolactate synthase, thereby disrupting normal processes in weeds. The substance enters weed tissue through the leaves.

The protective effect lasts for 1.5-2 months; the duration is affected by the amount of solution applied to the weeds, their type, stage of development, and the weather.

The speed of action of Neo also depends on these factors: if conditions are favorable for the drug to work, suppression of grass begins within 6 hours, and death occurs within 7-20 days.

Advantages and disadvantages

The advantages of the herbicide "Neo" can be characterized as follows:

  • selective action;
  • action on cereal species, including perennials that reproduce by seeds and rhizomes, such as wheatgrass;
  • can be used on corn at different stages of development;
  • ease of solution preparation, its speed of action due to the addition of surfactants;
  • rapid decomposition of nicosulfuron in soil.

Disadvantages: Only used on corn.

Calculation of consumption for plants

"Neo" is used exclusively in agriculture for spraying corn crops at a rate of 0.08-0.1 kg per hectare. If the product is mixed with 300 ml/ha of "Mix" surfactant, the rate is reduced to 0.05-0.06 kg. Spraying is carried out when corn plants are at the 3-6 leaf stage, first-year weeds are at the 2-6 leaf stage, and perennial weeds reach a height of 10-20 cm. 200-400 liters of solution are applied per hectare, with a single application. Corn can be harvested two months after treatment.

How to prepare and use the working mixture

The Neo herbicide solution is prepared just before spraying. First, prepare the stock solution: fill a bucket or other container 1/4 full with water, add granules, and add water to fill the sprayer to ¾ of its capacity. Fill the sprayer to ½ the capacity, add the stock solution, top up the sprayer to the top, and mix.

If preparing a tank mix, dissolve the Neo granules first, then add the other components (herbicides or surfactants). Do not mix with concentrates. Use the resulting solution or mixture immediately.

Safety precautions

When handling the product, wear protective clothing with long sleeves, a respirator, and goggles. Gloves should be worn to protect your hands. Do not remove gloves while spraying. After finishing, wash your hands and face with water and laundry soap.

Neo herbicide

How toxic is it?

The herbicide is classified as a Class 3 herbicide, which is considered to be low toxicity to humans. Its toxicity to bees is also low (Class 3).

Neo is non-toxic to corn, even at twice the recommended application rate. Crops can be sown or planted in the treated area the following season without restrictions.

Is compatibility possible?

Can be combined with pesticides applied to crops at the same time. To enhance the bioefficiency of Neo, it is recommended to use it in conjunction with the surfactant Mix; in this case, the herbicide application rate is 0.1 kg per hectare.

Another mixture option: Neo and Tifi at 0.06 and 0.01 kg per hectare, respectively, plus Mix surfactant at 0.2 l per hectare. Using these mixtures is considered biologically justified. Neo can be combined with Banvel, Dialen Super, and Octapon herbicides.

spraying the field

Do not use Neo with Lentagran or Bazagran, as the mixture may cause corn leaf burn. Do not mix with 2,4-D-containing products. Do not treat seeds or corn crops when using organophosphate insecticides.

Storage terms and conditions

Neo herbicide has a shelf life of 2 years if stored in a dark, ventilated, and dry place. Store in bottles with tightly sealed lids. Fertilizers and agrochemicals can be stored in the same warehouse as the herbicide. Do not store the solution for more than 1 day.

Analogues

The following preparations are produced with nicosulfuron and replace Neo: Agronika, Dublon, Innovate, Melion, Nikos, Kreutzer, Prioritet, Narval, Miledi, Kornikos, Nikobel, Cordus, Nissin, Oktava, Apriori, Strategist, Nikosav, Kornegi, Squash, Milena, Modern, Corleone, Elyumis, Milafort, Agronika Grand, Phaeton, Kelvin Plus, Ikanos, Khors, Voyage, Yantar, Supercorn.

Neo herbicide helps clear annual and perennial weeds from corn crops when applied early. When applied at the recommended time, weeds are destroyed after a single application. Plants are completely destroyed within 1-3 weeks. It is non-toxic to the crop and is compatible with agrochemicals.
