Instructions for use and composition of the herbicide Romul, dosage and analogues

Modern pesticides are significantly more effective and cost-effective than previous-generation agrochemicals. The herbicide "Romul" is capable of controlling various types of weeds (including cereals) in corn and potato fields. Knowing the composition and instructions for use will be helpful to farmers when applying the product to protect their crops from weeds.

Composition, dosage form and purpose

Romul is marketed as water-soluble granules packaged in 100- and 500-gram polymer bottles. It is a new-generation pesticide belonging to the sulfonylurea class of chemicals.

The active ingredient is rimsulfuron at a concentration of 250 grams per kilogram. The herbicide is designed to remove annual and some perennial broadleaf weeds from corn and potato crops. It is manufactured using imported components by Soyuzagrokhim LLC.

Mechanism of action

The active ingredient inhibits the synthesis of amino acids in weeds, which leads to growth arrest, photosynthesis, and ultimately the death of the pest. Rimsulfuron causes the stems and leaves of the plant to curl and discolor. Complete weed control takes 2-3 weeks.

Advantages and disadvantages

In addition to its economical consumption and effectiveness, the product has additional advantages:

  • the possibility of fractional application of pesticides and flexible terms of use;
  • admissibility of use in tank mixtures with other agrochemicals;
  • speed of action on weeds.

The disadvantages include the cost of the drug.

Calculation of consumption

Each package comes with detailed manufacturer instructions on application rates and usage instructions. Do not exceed the recommended dosage. One or two applications can be performed per season. When splitting treatments, the dosages are combined. For enhanced effectiveness, surfactants (surface-active agents) such as Neon 99 and Neonol AF 9-12 can be used.

Herbicide application rate Types of crops processed Weeds to be removed Spraying period, consumption of working mixture (in liters per hectare)
0.02-0.03 Potato plantings Cereal annuals and perennials, dicotyledonous weeds After hilling. 1-2 phase of weed development. 200-300
0.05 Rows of potatoes The same pest plants Preliminary hilling. Stage 2-4 weed leaves. 200-300
0.05 Corn crops for grain Cereal annuals and perennials, dicotyledonous weeds Corn leaf stage 2-6. Weed growth begins. Rosette stage on sow thistle. 200-300
0.04 Corn crops for grain The same plants The development phase of 2-6 leaves on corn, the beginning of weed growth. 200-300

With manual processing of plants, it is possible to go out into the field in a week; with machine processing, in 3 days.

Preparation of the working mixture

The solution is prepared before use and should not be stored for more than 24 hours. Water is added to the tank (1/4-1/3 of the required volume). With the mixer running, the herbicide granules are added, and the mixture is diluted with water to the required volume. Continue mixing for another 10-15 minutes.

How to use the product

Treatment should not be carried out during rain, high humidity, or wind. It should be scheduled for early morning or on a cloudy, dry day.

Precautionary measures

Work is performed by trained personnel who have the appropriate authorization and completed safety training. Employees are provided with protective suits, gloves, and respirators. A person is assigned to oversee the work. Upon completion, employees are required to change clothes and take a shower.
