The herbicide "Serp" is a systemic, highly selective herbicide that helps control a wide range of annual grasses and broadleaf weeds. It is often used to treat soybeans and peas. To ensure the desired results, it is important to strictly follow the instructions for use. Adhering to safety precautions is also crucial. This will help avoid unwanted consequences.
Composition, purpose and existing forms of release
The active ingredient is imazethapyr. One liter of the product contains 100 grams of the active ingredient. The product is available as a water-soluble concentrate and is sold in 5-liter plastic canisters.
The product has a broad spectrum of action. It effectively controls most weeds, including ragweed, couch grass, and shepherd's purse. It also effectively kills wild radish, field mustard, and other weeds.
The method of action of the drug
The active ingredient in the product has a systemic effect. This allows it to rapidly penetrate plant structures and inhibit cellular growth. When applied before emergence, the herbicide stops broadleaf weed growth at the two-leaf stage. Meanwhile, grasses stop growing at the coleoptile stage.
Advantages and disadvantages

Calculation of consumption for different crops
For the use of a substance to be effective, it must be applied correctly.

The herbicide application rates are given in the table:
| Application rate | Culture | Harmful object | Processing Features | Waiting period (number of treatments) |
| 0.5-0.8 | Soybeans | Annual and perennial weeds, including various species of ragweed | The soil should be sprayed before planting, before the sprouts emerge, or when the crop has 2-3 trifoliate leaves. 200-300 liters of working solution are required per hectare. | 78 (1) |
| 0.5-0.75 | Chickpeas, peas | It is recommended to spray the soil within 2-3 days after sowing. It can also be applied to vegetative plants when the crop has 3-6 leaves. 200-300 liters of working solution are required per hectare. | 40 (1) |
Preparation of working solution
The working fluid is prepared at stationary filling stations. It is also prepared in tanks equipped with a mechanical stirrer. The solution should be prepared immediately before use, using only clean water.

To do this, add a small amount of water to the sprayer tank, filling it about a third full. Then, add the required amount of herbicide and top up with water to the optimum volume. Stir the mixture while adding the components.
Instructions for use
To ensure the product is effective, it's important to follow the instructions carefully. The product can be applied before planting, lightly incorporating it into the soil, before sprouts emerge, and after sprouts emerge at the 1-4 leaf stage.
Early post-emergence application is most effective on pea and soybean crops. At this time, broadleaf weeds should have a maximum of four leaves, and grasses should have two to three.
Precautionary measures
The instructions state that it is recommended to treat the area with the herbicide no more than once every three years. When using the product, do not use compounds that belong to the imidazoline and sulfonylurea groups. It is also important to note that "Serp" cannot be combined with other types of grass-control herbicides.

How toxic is it?
The product is classified as hazard class 3 for humans and bees, meaning it is considered moderately hazardous.
Is compatibility possible?
This product should not be combined with graminicides in tank mixes. To increase the herbicide's effectiveness against mature weeds, it should be combined with mineral oils. Surfactants are also suitable for this purpose.
Storage rules and shelf life
The product must be stored in designated storage areas. It must be in a sealed, factory-made container. Storage temperatures must range from -5 to +30°C. The shelf life is 3 years.

Analogues
Effective analogues of the drug include:
- "Viaduct";
- "Golf";
- Zeta;
- "Sapphire".
The herbicide "Serp" is considered an effective weed control product. However, it's important to strictly follow the instructions for use.
