"Voliam Flexi" is an effective insecticide that controls almost all pests affecting potatoes and other vegetable crops. This product effectively combats Lepidoptera, Coleoptera, and Diptera. It can also be used to kill sucking pests. The product can be applied by spraying or soil application. The latter method exhibits systemic properties.
What is it used for, active ingredient and dosage form
The product contains two active ingredients. One liter of the product contains 200 grams of thiamethoxam and 100 grams of chlorantraniliprole. The compound belongs to the chemical group of neonicotinoids—anthranilamides. The product is available as a suspension concentrate.
Thanks to the combination of two active ingredients, this composition helps combat various types of parasites. Its protective effect lasts for 20-25 days. The composition is easy to use and resistant to rain washout. Furthermore, the product has a strong translaminar and systemic effect.

Operating principle
The product's mechanism of action is based on the presence of two chemicals belonging to different chemical classes. The product quickly stops the insects' feeding process, causing paralysis and eventual death. This immediate interruption of feeding allows the parasites to survive for another 4 days. However, they no longer cause any harm to plants.
Moreover, the components of the product act on parasites in different ways:
- Thiamethoxam affects the parasite's nervous system receptors. Within 15-60 minutes, the insect stops feeding and dies within 24 hours.
- Chlorantraniliprole negatively affects the nervous system and muscles of parasites. This is due to changes in calcium levels in their bodies.
Pros and cons of the drug
The main advantages of the product include the following:
- broad spectrum of action – the drug suppresses the activity of almost all parasites;
- control of aphids and leafhoppers – they carry viruses and phytoplasma;
- high resistance to precipitation already after treatment;
- no dependence on temperature;
- ease of use – the preparations do not need to be mixed, which reduces the risk of errors;
- reduction of manual labor costs;
- safety for people;
- the ability to control all types of parasites;
- long protective period – it lasts up to 20-25 days;
- high translaminar and systemic activity;
- resistance to precipitation and water;
- ease of use;
- no phytotoxicity if instructions are followed;
- safety for people and animals;
- lack of selectivity;
- compatibility with other products – it is important to conduct a compatibility test first.
However, the insecticide does have some drawbacks. The main disadvantages include the following:
- the risk of developing resistance to the effects of active ingredients - therefore, the composition must be alternated with other products;
- impossibility of use in summer cottages.

How to prepare and instructions for use
Each crop has its own insecticide application rate. Dosages are listed in the table:
| Cultivated plant | Insecticide costs per 1 hectare | Consumption of working fluid (number of treatments) |
| Apple | 400-500 milliliters of suspension | 800-1500 liters (3 times) |
| Potato | 700-800 milliliters during planting and 200 milliliters for spraying plants during the growing season. | 100 liters at planting, 400 liters during the growing season (2 times) |
| Tomatoes in a greenhouse | 300-400 milliliters | 1000-3000 liters (1 time) |
| Grape | 400-500 milliliters | 100-600 liters (3 times) |
It is recommended to prepare the working solution immediately before use. This should be done at specially designed, permanent filling stations. These operations can also be carried out in tanks equipped with mechanical agitators. It is important that the filling station area be concreted and have a sanitary protection zone of at least 200 meters. After completing the work, this zone must be treated.
It is recommended to prepare the working solution using a stock solution. To do this, mix the calculated volume of the product with water to obtain a homogeneous suspension. Do not exceed a concentration of 0.2 liters per 1 liter of water.
First, fill the tank halfway with water, turn on the mixer, and add the mother solution. With the mixer running, add water until the tank is full. Pump the prepared working solution into the filling tank and deliver it to the treatment area.
If mechanical equipment is not available, do not prepare the working solution. Do not spill the solution while preparing the solution or filling the sprayers. The working solution must be used on the same day it is prepared. Afterward, the sprayer must be rinsed and dried.
Safety precautions
When working with the product, farmers are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including overalls, gloves, and a respirator. After completing crop treatment, it is recommended to shower and wash clothes.

What can it be combined with?
This insecticide should not be combined with dimethoate-based chemicals. It also cannot be combined with mineral oils. Before using the composition in tank mixtures with other substances, a chemical compatibility test must be performed. If a flocculent sediment appears, the combination should be discontinued.
Analogues
If necessary, Voliam Flexi can be replaced with similar medications. These include Aktara and Octant. However, there is no complete analogue of this medication in terms of its active ingredients.
Voliam Flexi is an effective product that helps control a wide range of pests. However, it must be used strictly according to the instructions. Only then will it achieve the desired results.
