Description of the Kupets pepper variety and its varieties

Gardeners are interested in how to grow Kupets peppers. These plants thrive in hot regions with plenty of moisture and sun. Thanks to the efforts of breeders, pepper varieties capable of growing in cold and temperate climates have been developed.

What is Kupets pepper?

Peppers grow well in greenhouses, hotbeds, and plastic shelters. Hybrid varieties, such as:

  1. Catherine.
  2. Merchant.
  3. Latino.

These are varieties of bell peppers that are known for their high yields and ease of care and cultivation. They only require careful planting conditions, watering schedules, and fertilization.

Bell peppers

The Kupets variety is designed for growing in the climate of Siberia and the Urals, which is why gardeners reap such high yields. Not all plants are capable of producing fruit well in cold summers, when ripening is delayed.

This variety was created by breeders at the West Siberian Vegetable Station, which develops special varieties of vegetables for the short summers of the Urals and Siberia.

Characteristic:

  1. An early ripening variety that bears fruit well.
  2. Can be grown in open ground and greenhouses.
  3. This tall pepper variety resembles small trees from a distance. The height of the plants ranges from 80 to 85 cm.
  4. The stems of the plants are strong, half open, and the other half are branches that end in a cap of foliage.
  5. The branching is average, peppers are formed and grow on the branches.
  6. There is no need to tie up the plants, but if there is a need to increase the area of sun exposure on the pepper bushes, then tying them up is worth doing.
  7. Excellent adaptability to the climatic conditions of the region where the Kupets variety is planted in vegetable and summer cottage plots.

Red peppers

Description of fruits:

  1. Merchant peppers turn bright red when fully ripe.
  2. The shape of the fruit is conical.
  3. The skin of the fruit is glossy and free of defects, but only if the bushes receive sufficient nutrients and plenty of sun.
  4. Wall thickness varies from 4 to 8 mm.
  5. The weight of each pepper collected from a bush in open ground is 70-90 g, and in a greenhouse - 120-140 g.
  6. The vegetable contains a large number of vitamins and minerals, so the fruits are valued not only for their excellent taste, but also for their health benefits.
  7. Peppers contain a small amount of sugar.
  8. The pulp has a sweetish taste, without any bitterness or pungency.
  9. The fruits are picked from the bushes as soon as they become a uniform red color.

The Kupets variety consistently yields high yields from a 1 m² plot, despite the lack of favorable conditions for pepper growth and ripening. On average, 2-3 kg of peppers can be harvested from a single plot of this size. If ripening conditions are excellent and the weather remains favorable throughout the season, 7-10 kg can be harvested from 1 m². Higher yields are typical in greenhouses, while in open ground, the harvest is slightly lower, ranging from 7 to 8 kg.

Description of pepper

Harvested peppers should be placed in boxes in a cool room. This ensures fresh vegetables can be consumed for a long period. If the variety is being grown for sale, gardeners can rest assured. Peppers tolerate long-distance transportation well and, according to gardeners, retain their marketable appearance for a long time.

The fruits of this pepper variety are typically eaten raw in salads. They pair well with meat and fish dishes. Kupets peppers can also be canned, stuffed with rice and vegetables, stewed, or used in convenience foods. After defrosting, the peppers retain their original appearance, remaining fresh and juicy.

You can preserve the fruits individually or as part of vegetable salads that include other vegetables.

Characteristics of Latino pepper

One of the varieties of the Kupets variety is the Latino pepper. It's not tall, but medium-sized, but this doesn't affect its yield. Like the Kupets, the Latino pepper was bred as a hybrid, as indicated by the F1 designation. Seeds for cultivation should be purchased annually, ensuring consistently high, high-quality yields.

The advantages of the Latino variety include:

  1. Early maturity. The first fruits ripen within 100-110 days after sowing the seeds for seedlings. Typically, the first fruits are harvested from the bushes as early as June, provided the seeds are planted in seedling pots in March.
  2. From one plot of land you can collect up to 16 kg of fresh and tasty fruits.
  3. The peppers are cubic in shape.
  4. The average thickness of the fruit walls is 1 cm.
  5. The fruit sizes vary within 12x12 cm.
  6. The color of ripe peppers is bright red.

Latino Pepper

The bushes reach a height of 1 m during growth. Staking is not necessary because the Latin variety's bushes become woody and strong. The branches are densely covered with fruits of uniform size and shape.

Gardeners' reviews suggest that the fruit should be picked when they turn dark green. This is the so-called technical maturity stage, which allows for long-term storage of the harvested crop. The boxes containing the fruit should be stored in a dark place.

It's recommended to dig up bushes that bear fruit at the end of the harvest season and replant them in pots. These plants will continue to bear fruit in your apartment or house.

In the south of the country, the Latino variety is recommended for growing outdoors, while seedlings are planted in greenhouses in Siberia, the center, and the north of the country. This allows for a larger harvest. When planting outdoors in dachas and gardens in Siberia and the northern regions, gardeners experience smaller yields. Fruits ripened on the bush will also be smaller in size.

Characteristics of the Ekaterina variety

This variety is also related to the bell pepper cultivar. However, this variety is mid-early, not early-ripening like the Latino and Kupets varieties. The first fruits can be harvested within 100-120 days after the seeds are planted in the ground as seedlings.

The Ekaterina pepper is cylindrical in shape, with each fruit weighing between 150 and 210 g. The fruit walls are 6.7-7 mm thick. When ripe, the peppers are light green, turning red when fully ripe. The inside flesh is juicy, tender, and delicious, with a pleasant peppery aroma and flavor.

Pepper Ekaterina

Growing bell pepper varieties such as Kupets, Latino, and Ekaterina should be done strictly according to the instructions on the seed packaging. Typically, seedlings are placed in pots in late March or early April. Watering, loosening the soil, weeding, and adding mineral fertilizers should be done on time.
