Many gardeners ask how to grow the Marianna F1 tomato. High-yielding tomato varieties always top the list of seeds that vegetable growers purchase for seedlings. Gardeners want to get plenty of fruit not only from their first tomato harvest but also from subsequent ones.
This variety was created by breeders and named Marianna. It's a hybrid that produces a high-quality harvest throughout the gardening season. User reviews indicate that this variety can be grown commercially or for home use, for fresh or canned consumption.
What is the Marianna F1 tomato?
Characteristics and description of the variety:
- The bushes of this variety do not grow very tall, on average, about 40 cm.
- The bushes are quite wide, 40–50 cm in diameter.
- The leaves are medium sized and light green in color.
- There is no need to tie the plants to supports or trellises, but tomatoes need to be regularly and properly cared for to obtain a large harvest.
In the description of the variety, gardeners are attracted by the characteristics of the fruits:

- Up to 90 tomatoes can ripen on one bush at the same time.
- The weight of 1 tomato varies from 120 to 200 g. On 1 branch there can be both large and small tomatoes.
- The fruits are large and contain several seed chambers inside, each containing a small number of seeds.
- The pulp and core are dense and thick (up to 5 mm in thickness).
- The tomatoes are classic plum tomatoes, shaped like an ellipse.
The skin is firm, glossy, and firm, and does not crack during ripening or transportation. The color is deep red. Tomatoes can be stored in boxes for a long time without losing their quality.

The pulp contains 3.4% sugar, which makes the tomatoes very tasty, sweet, and have a pleasant tomato aroma.
One bush can produce up to 7 kg of fruit.
Thus, the Marianna tomato stands out among dwarf plants because it produces a high yield, which is unusual for such bushes. No side shoots are needed during growth, making it easier to grow. Thanks to the efforts of scientists, a variety has been developed that is resistant to viruses and infections, including fusarium and nematodes.

The Marianna F1 tomato was developed by breeders at Sakata, a company that has been developing plant varieties and seeds for over 100 years. Using their extensive breeding and experience, they developed a tomato variety that tolerates both heat and cold well.
The variety was tested in the North Caucasus. Despite the high cost of the seeds, it is very popular with consumers who receive a quality guarantee from the manufacturer.
Growing and care
This variety is mid-season, with fruit formation and ripening taking 120-130 days. Seedlings can be planted not only in open ground (for which this variety was developed), but also in greenhouses. The yield depends on the planting location and growing region.
The harvest ripens 2–2.5 months after planting. High-quality ovaries form on the clusters in warm climates and high temperatures.

Due to their determinate nature, these bushes can be planted compactly in plots. Up to 20,000 bushes can typically fit per hectare. Plants are planted in the ground using two methods: direct seeding and seedlings, which are more commonly used than sowing seeds in open ground. Thinning is performed if necessary.
Seedlings transplanted into the ground are very sensitive to heat. Therefore, the soil should be well warmed to 15–16°C. This temperature is reached in the greenhouse in April, and in the garden beds in the second half of May. Seedlings aged 35–40 days should be planted 10 cm deep. If all agricultural practices are followed, the yield will be high.

I planted this tomato for the first time this year. I really liked the taste, and the seedlings sprouted without any problems. I only use this product as a growth activator. BioGrow, it doesn't cost much.
