The Dark Galaxy tomato is a rare variety. This hybrid was developed by American specialists in 2012. Among tomatoes, this variety is distinguished by its unusual fruit appearance, rich flavor, and high yield.
Advantages of a hybrid
The Black Series tomato is represented by the exotic first-generation hybrid Dark Galaxy F1. The plant reaches a height of 1 m. The bush has medium-sized, dark green leaves. The main characteristic of the Dark Galaxy tomato is the formation of up to 7 fruits per single cluster. The variety's description indicates a high yield.

The Galaxy F1 tomato is designed for open-field cultivation, but is sometimes planted in a greenhouse. The bush requires training. Staking and additional support are recommended for the thin stems.
Description:
- The hybrid is a mid-season tomato, ripening on the 110th day of the growing season.
- The beautiful fruits are bright red in cross-section, sweet in taste, and have an incredibly impressive coloring.
- As they ripen, blue and purple spots appear on the red background, with golden stripes appearing over them, reminiscent of a picture of a galaxy.
- Tomatoes are cultivated commercially for their exotic appearance, shelf life, and ability to be transported over long distances.
- The fruits contain beta-carotene and lycopene.
- Tomatoes do not cause allergies and can be included in the diet of people suffering from diabetes.

Agricultural technology for growing crops
Seeds for seedlings are sown in mid-March. Before being placed in prepared containers with soil, they are treated with a potassium permanganate solution to prevent damage from fungus and other diseases.
Soaking the seeds before planting ensures uniform germination. Treated seeds are planted at a distance from each other, lightly covering them with a 0.5 cm layer of soil. After the loops appear and the first true leaves have formed, the seedlings are pricked out to strengthen the plant.

On the 65th day, the mature seedling is planted in a greenhouse or open ground. Before planting, harden off the plants by moving them outside. Five to six plants are planted per square meter. It is recommended to treat the holes with a potassium permanganate solution before planting.
When growing tomato plants in a greenhouse, tomato seeds are planted in pre-prepared soil. To do this, furrows are made 10 cm apart, 1 cm deep and 1 cm wide, into which the seeds are placed and covered with a 5 mm layer of soil.
It's best to distribute the top layer using a sieve to avoid uneven seed placement. Watering should be done using a hand sprayer to avoid displacing the seeds.

As the planting material grows, a 3-5 cm layer of soil is added between the rows, which helps strengthen the root system and control growth. This also helps form strong stems by retaining and absorbing moisture.
Planting material grown this way takes root well after transplanting into a greenhouse and open ground. Plant care involves fertilizing with complex mineral fertilizers according to the manufacturer's recommendations.
Planting in open ground occurs in mid-May, after the frost period has passed. Periodically, hilling is carried out to ensure a balanced moisture and air supply for the root system.
For tying, stakes are used, onto which a trellis is stretched in several tiers. This care system allows the plants to be ventilated and prevents morning dew from accumulating, which acts as a natural preventative measure and increases disease resistance.

Recommendations from vegetable growers
Reviews from gardeners cultivating the hybrid are related to the exotic appearance of the fruits, their taste qualities, and cultivation techniques.
Daria Egorova, 51 years old, Kemerovo:
"As a lover of exotic tomatoes, I immediately bought seeds of the Dark Galaxy hybrid after seeing this variety. Due to circumstances, I had to grow the tomato as a greenhouse plant. I was concerned about a sudden temperature change. The plant survived, and I was pleasantly surprised by the harvest. The fragrant fruits have a long shelf life, and I consider the ability to eat fresh tomato products to be the most important quality of tomatoes."
Arkady Fedotov, 62 years old, Astrakhan:
"A neighbor gave me a packet of Dark Galaxy seeds. As an amateur gardener who's been growing tomatoes for decades, I'd like to point out the amazing appearance of the fruits as they ripen. They display every conceivable color. Seen among the foliage, they look like a miniature galaxy. The sweet-tasting fruits store well for a long time."

The tomato is very unusual both in taste and appearance. I prefer the appearance. At first, they grew poorly, but I started using BioGrow – a plant growth bioactivator. The product worked well, but it had an unpleasant odor.
