Description of the hybrid tomato Rhapsody and recommendations for growing the plant

Rhapsody is a hybrid tomato variety that was developed recently. It's a rather interesting variety, designed for growing in northern latitudes. The initial plan was to develop a tomato variety that would increase yields when grown in greenhouses. Breeders succeeded in achieving their goal, and gardeners and farmers received a new and delicious tomato variety.

What is the Rhapsody tomato?

Characteristics and description of the variety:

  • Rhapsody is a brush tomato, otherwise known as NK F1;
  • the variety is early ripening and has unlimited bush growth;
  • has good yield;
  • the plant is quite powerful and can withstand a large weight load;
  • Sometimes the variety is called Raspberry Rhapsody - thanks to its large bushes, completely covered with fruits, it resembles a raspberry bush;
  • Rhapsody F1 tomato bushes need to be supported, this is because they grow a large number of fruits and require help to support all this abundance;
  • In terms of yield, bushes with 1, 2 or 3 stems are considered the best.

On average, it takes about three months from planting to harvest. No side shoots are required in this case. A single bush can reach 70 cm in height, with some specimens taller than this. This tomato variety is typically grown in greenhouses and in open ground.

Ripe Rhapsody tomatoes are bright red or crimson. They are round, slightly flattened, with ribbing near the stem, and are quite large. Rhapsody tomatoes are suitable for any use: fresh, canned, or used in sauces.

Branch with tomatoes

This variety has a meaty, dense flesh and a tough skin. Experts claim that even if dropped onto a hard surface from a human height, the fruit retains its shape and suffers no visible damage. Fruits from the first plant weigh up to 130 grams or more due to the small number of tomatoes. As the tomatoes mature, their weight will decrease slightly.

When describing the fruit variety, it's worth mentioning its shelf life. Rhapsody doesn't retain its properties for long, and it's not recommended for long-distance transport. This typically discourages gardeners from purchasing it or forces them to grow only small quantities.

How to grow tomatoes?

Let's look at the growing process. Sowing seeds is planned for early or mid-spring. Experts recommend sowing seeds two months before planting. There should be a maximum of four bushes per square meter; otherwise, there is a high risk of confusion between the bushes and their death due to root failure.

Before planting, the soil must be prepared by adding fertilizer and humus. The soil should be enriched with vitamins and calcium.

Tied sprouts

Rhapsody possesses a number of positive characteristics that significantly outweigh any negative aspects of the variety. The grown and ripened fruits are distinguished by their excellent flavor: they maintain an ideal balance of sweetness, acidity, and bitterness.

Since the Rhapsody F1 tomato is a hybrid, it is practically not susceptible to diseases that usually attack tomatoes.

Tomato bush

The Rhapsody tomato does have its drawbacks. One of them is that the ripe fruit begins to rot after just a couple of weeks, or in some cases, after just a few days. It's also fussy when it comes to care: it doesn't always like the soil it's planted in. Furthermore, the variety is quite fussy about fertilizer.

However, feedback from a large number of farmers suggests that the advantages more than outweigh the negative traits of the variety.
