Infectious and fungal diseases cause significant damage to crops and reduce yields. To prevent damage by pathogenic microorganisms, gardeners and farmers use seed dressings on tubers and roots before planting. The instructions for the fungicide "Prestige," developed by German specialists, state that it is effective against not only bacteria but also insect pests.
Composition, existing forms of release and purpose
Prestige is a chemical with both fungicidal and insecticidal properties. It contains two active ingredients that address problems from different angles. The first is imidaclopiride, a neonicotinoid chemical that combats insect pests and their larvae. One liter of fungicide contains 140 grams of it. The second component is pencycuron, which has a contact fungicidal effect. One liter of the chemical contains 15 grams of pencycuron.
Prestige is manufactured by the German company Bayer Crop-Science and sold as a suspension concentrate. It is available in 20, 30, 60, 150, and 500 ml bottles, as well as 5-liter plastic canisters. The former is convenient for small plot owners, while the latter is more commonly used by farmers sowing larger fields.
The instructions for use state that Prestige is intended for pre-sowing and pre-planting treatment of seeds, tubers, and the root system of plants. Although it is most often used for treating potato tubers, it is also suitable for other crops. This fungicide is effective against pathogens such as septoria leaf spot and scab, rust and powdery mildew, rot and mold, as well as pests such as mole crickets, May beetles, aphids, and thrips.
How does the product work?
The active ingredient, imidaclopiride, paralyzes the pests, ultimately leading to their death due to nutritional deficiency. The second active ingredient, pencycuron, penetrates the fungal walls after treatment and begins to destroy the mycelium.
Advantages and disadvantages

Farmers and gardeners who used Prestige appreciated all the advantages of this drug.
The only drawback that gardeners highlighted is the rather high cost of the chemical product.
Calculation of consumption for different plants
The instructions for the drug indicate the dosage depending on the type of plant being treated:
- Potatoes - 100 ml of product per 1.5 liters of water (for 10 kg).
- Peppers, eggplants, tomatoes - 100 ml of fungicide per 10 liters of water.
- Fruit and ornamental crops - 20 ml per 1 liter of water.

Rules for preparing the working mixture and how to use it
The method of preparing the working fluid depends on the crop being processed:
- Mix the preparation with water in a container and spray the potato tubers evenly. Plant them immediately after treatment.
- For eggplants, tomatoes, and peppers, mix the suspension with water and soak the roots of the seedlings in it. Let it sit for 6-7 hours.
- The roots of fruit and ornamental seedlings are treated in the same way.
After using the preparation, crops are reliably protected from pests until the end of the season, and grow and develop better.
Precautions when working
Prestige is classified as toxicity class 3 and poses little risk to humans. However, its use may kill earthworms in the soil. When handling the chemical, wear protective clothing and gloves. If the solution accidentally comes into contact with eyes or skin, rinse with plenty of water and seek immediate medical attention.

Phytotoxicity
If you adhere to the manufacturer's recommended dosage, phytotoxicity will not occur. However, avoid treating rotten tubers or weakened seedlings.
Possible compatibility
Prestige fungicide can be used in tank mixes with other products. However, a compatibility test should be performed first; if sediment appears, discontinue use.
How to store properly and expiration date
The chemical's shelf life is 3 years from the date of manufacture. Store the fungicide in a dark, dry storage area where the temperature does not exceed 30 degrees Celsius.
Similar means
If necessary, Prestige can be replaced with drugs such as Actellic, Komandor, or Tanrek.
