Grenader herbicide instructions for use, dosage, and analogues

To grow and harvest a bountiful crop, farmers are forced to use chemicals to control weeds. Otherwise, weeds rob plants of nutrients and choke them. One effective weed control method is the herbicide "Grenadier," which only needs to be applied once per season to eliminate weed growth. Before use, read the instructions and field treatment guidelines.

Composition, existing forms of release and purpose

This systemic herbicide contains one active ingredient, tribenuron-methyl, which inhibits the development and growth of weeds. One kilogram of the chemical contains 750 grams of the active ingredient. Grenadier is sold as water-soluble granules packaged in 500-gram plastic bottles.

This systemic herbicide is specifically designed to control dicotyledonous annuals and perennials that infest fields of grain, cereals, and sunflowers. Due to its selective action, it has no negative impact on crops and does not interfere with their growth and development.

How does the product work?

A systemic and selective herbicide used in crop fields and classified as a post-emergence product. The active ingredient in Grenader is absorbed by weed leaves and then transported to the weed's growth points. By inhibiting the enzyme acetolactate synthase, weed cell division is halted, resulting in weed growth halted within a few hours of application.

Grenadier herbicide

The first signs of weed death are observed 5-7 days after treatment. Weeds are completely eradicated within 2-3 weeks, depending on the weather conditions. Dry and cold weather slows the herbicide's action, while warm weather, on the contrary, promotes faster weed control.

Since "Grenadier" decomposes quite quickly in the soil, it is recommended to use it only after the first weed shoots appear.

Advantages of the drug

Farmers who have already used the systemic herbicide to treat their crop fields have highlighted several advantages of the product that distinguish it from other similar chemicals.

Grenadier herbicide

They listed the following features as advantages of the Grenadier:

  • the chemical agent affects only weeds, without harming crops;
  • quickly decomposes in the soil, therefore does not affect crop rotation;
  • equally effectively destroys most annual and perennial weeds;
  • approved for use in tank mixing with many pesticides;
  • works at temperatures from 5 degrees Celsius;
  • has a low consumption rate and a convenient dosage form;
  • is characterized by its rapid action - the cessation of the development of weeds is observed within a few hours after spraying;
  • does not require re-application.

Calculation of consumption for plants

To achieve the set goal and stop the growth and development of weeds, it is necessary to correctly calculate the application rate of the systemic herbicide.

Grenadier herbicide

The application rates specified in the instructions are presented in the table:

Cultivated plant Herbicide rate, kg/hectare of plantings Working fluid consumption
Winter wheat From 0.015 to 0.025, depending on the degree of contamination From 200 to 300 liters
Rye and winter barley From 0.015 to 0.025 From 200 to 300 liters
Spring barley and wheat No more than 0.015 From 200 to 300 liters
Sunflower From 0.015 to 0.050 From 200 to 300 liters

Preparation of the working mixture

For better adhesion to weed leaves, use the systemic herbicide in combination with AgroPAV at a 1% concentration. First, prepare clean water, preferably soft water, as this will allow the product to dissolve better. Prepare a concentrated solution by diluting the recommended amount of product in water. Then, pour half the total amount of liquid into the sprayer tank and add the stock solution, while simultaneously running the agitator. Once the liquid has a uniform consistency, add the adhesive and the remaining water, continuing to agitate.

The working solution is prepared immediately before treating weeds so that it does not lose its effectiveness.

Instructions for use

On the day of spraying, wind speed should not exceed 3 m/s. It is preferable that there be no rain during this time, and the temperature should not be below 5 degrees Celsius. Treatments are carried out either in the morning or evening. Any remaining working solution is disposed of according to safety regulations.

Safety precautions

When working with chemicals, observe safety precautions. Wear full-body coveralls, gloves, and a headscarf.

After spraying, all clothes are washed, and the farmer must take a shower with detergent to remove any accidentally dropped drops of the solution.

If a systemic herbicide comes into contact with your eyes or skin, rinse them with clean running water and seek first aid at the nearest medical facility.

Grenadier herbicide

How toxic is it?

The herbicide "Grenadier" belongs to the 3rd hazard class for humans and honey insects.

Possible compatibility

This systemic herbicide is approved for tank mixing with other chemicals. To expand its spectrum of activity, it can be combined with products such as Dilar and Disulam.

How and how long can it be stored?

Store the product in a closed storage area, away from sunlight and out of reach of small children and pets. The air temperature should not exceed 30 degrees Celsius. The herbicide remains effective for three years from the production date, provided the original packaging is intact.

Similar means

If the drug is not available for sale, it is replaced with chemicals such as Magnum, Agrostar or Kalibr.
