Chio-chio San tomatoes are renowned for their antioxidant properties. They are also suitable for any use: canning, salads, sauces, and spices. This variety is gaining more and more fans every year. This crop produces a good harvest without being overly demanding.
Description of the variety
Tomato plants grow continuously, reaching heights exceeding 2 meters. This characteristic determines the subsequent care of the plant.

This hybrid variety is characterized by a medium ripening time, averaging 110 days. Gardeners love this crop for its high yield. A single plant can yield up to 50 tomatoes.
Description of fruits:
- oblong shape (cream);
- delicate taste;
- weight from 40 grams;
- pink color;
- fleshy, dense and juicy pulp;
- 1 bush produces up to 6 kg of tomatoes.

The tomatoes are the perfect size for canning, and they don't require cutting before packing. Ripe tomatoes are a valuable resource for extracting healthy tomato juice and making sauces.
The crop is extremely rarely affected by fungal infections. Hot and dry weather is also not an obstacle to a good harvest.
The bushes grow large, so in addition to standard care, they require tying and pinching.
Growing
The variety is grown from seedlings. The seeds are transplanted into open soil after the onset of spring warmth, when the soil temperature reaches 15 degrees Celsius. The seeds are sown in March. Initially, the seeds should be thoroughly inspected for defects and soaked in a weak solution of potassium permanganate. This will speed up germination and ensure disinfection.
In cold climates, hardening off seeds is important. At home, a refrigerator is used for this purpose.
The soil and seedling containers are prepared in advance. The seeds are planted in pre-moistened soil to a depth of 2 cm. The containers are covered with plastic wrap until germination occurs. The seedlings are then placed in a bright window and given standard care: maintaining an optimal temperature (not below 12°C at night and above 15°C during the day), carefully loosening the soil, and watering when a dry crust appears on the soil. Once two true leaves appear on the seedlings, they are pricked out.

Seedlings are planted in the ground at a spacing of 45 x 65 cm. The further apart the plants are, the more branches can be left during formation. Chio-chio San tomatoes are suitable for various growing methods, but greenhouse conditions produce higher yields.
It is better to tie up large branches separately, as they break under the canopy of the crop.
Care
This hybrid variety is easy to grow and responds well to standard care. First and foremost, tomatoes require regular watering. As soon as the soil begins to dry out, re-water it immediately. The water temperature should not fall below 20 degrees Celsius.
The second important factor in tomato care is fertilizing. For this, standard complex fertilizers are used or folk remedies are used. Fertilizing is done once every 10 days.

Please note! Fertilize tomatoes only after watering. Otherwise, the plants may suffer.
It's essential to remove side shoots from the crop. And don't forget about standard care methods, such as weeding and loosening the soil. These are essential for eliminating weeds and providing the tomatoes with nutrients.
Advantages and disadvantages
Reviews of the Chio-chio san variety are overwhelmingly positive. Gardeners value this crop for the following advantages:
- resistance to many tomato diseases;
- excellent taste characteristics;
- high yield (up to 6 kg of tomatoes can be harvested from 1 bush);
- good preservation of tomatoes;
- possibility of long-distance transportation.
Thanks to their low water content and high density, these hybrids are ideal for pickling, fresh consumption, and salads. They also make delicious juices and sauces.

Disease resistance and high fertility make this variety attractive for commercial cultivation.
The only drawback is that the bushes tend to grow very large. This requires growth control and staking.
Pests and diseases
The hybrid variety is resistant to serious diseases. Late blight, for example, rarely affects tomatoes. However, pests can significantly reduce yields. These include:
- Whitefly. Most often found in greenhouses, it sucks the sap from plants.
- Nematode. This pest destroys plant roots, which stunts their growth and leads to their death.
- Spider mites. Dry air is the optimal environment for their infestation. They feed on plant sap.
Regular treatments are used to prevent pests. When growing in a greenhouse, it's important to maintain constant humidity and temperature levels. Soil disinfection is also crucial.

Remarkably, the Chio-chio san variety produces better yields in greenhouse conditions, but outdoors, tomatoes are much less likely to be affected by pests.
Harvesting and storage
To get a good harvest, it's important to treat the plants with care and provide proper and timely care. A characteristic feature of this variety is that if a tomato isn't picked promptly, it will simply burst. Therefore, it's best to pick the unripe fruit and ripen it in a dry, bright place. How you use the tomatoes depends on personal preference.
The small size of tomatoes allows them to be stored compactly in jars for preservation. This method of processing does not affect the appearance of the fruits at all; they look as if they were just picked from the garden.
Most gardeners who planted this variety in their gardens couldn't resist it. This is especially true for those who grow tomatoes for sale. Firm flesh and attractive appearance are the main criteria buyers look for.

Gardeners' reviews
Victoria Ananko, city of Krasnoarmeysk:
"We used to grow the Anyuta F1 variety. But recently, it's developed a distinctive sourness. So, I had to consider other varieties. I came across rave reviews of the Chio-chio San variety online and decided to give it a try. Initially, I was skeptical, as the plants grow so fast that you can't keep up with them. However, the harvest was a delight. The sweet and juicy tomatoes just kept ripening and delighting our family. We later planted other varieties, but this one remains our favorite."
Victoria Avdeeva, city of Mozhaisk:
"We tried growing tomatoes for sale, as this business is our family's main source of income. We were hesitant about buying the Chio-chio San variety, as the description stated a yield of up to 6 kg. We didn't think that was enough. However, we didn't regret our choice. We were just able to pick the ripe fruits. Their beautiful shape and excellent flavor make them a worthy competitor to many hybrids."
