When growing any crop in their garden, every gardener wants to achieve a bountiful harvest without investing significant time and effort. The Boyets tomato is a versatile variety that meets these requirements, which explains its widespread popularity. There are two varieties—Yellow and Red Buyan—which are similar in characteristics but differ in fruit shape.
Description of the variety
The Buyan tomato variety, also known as Soldat, was developed in Siberia and is suitable for planting in cool climates. Both varieties are considered early-ripening, with the time from seedling germination to harvest being approximately three months. The plant grows determinately, reaching a height of no more than 50 cm. Flower clusters form on seedlings every two leaves.

The fruit can be cylindrical or plum-shaped. The surface is smooth and shiny. Ripe fruits have a deep red color. The average weight of a single Buyan tomato is approximately 70 g. During ripening, 4-5 chambers containing seeds form inside.
Growing
Boets (Buyan) tomato seeds are planted in seedling containers in early spring. The soil is compacted first, then the seeds are spread on the surface and covered with a layer of soil no more than 1 cm thick. Immediately after planting, the soil should be watered with warm water using a spray bottle. Cover the container with plastic film to create a greenhouse-like environment and keep the cover on until the first shoots emerge.

After 2-3 leaves have formed, the seedlings need to be pricked out. Peat pots are suitable for this purpose. The plants can be transplanted to their permanent location only after all frosts have passed. Typically, seedlings with 6-7 leaves and growing for 60-70 days are transplanted into the open ground.
Care Features
The variety's characteristics don't require any special care for the seedlings. To obtain a bountiful harvest, simply follow a few standard guidelines. Weeds should be removed periodically from the beds as they can promote disease. Water the bushes only with warm, settled water in the morning or evening. After each watering, it is worth loosening the soil, while being careful not to disturb the root system.
A week after transplanting the Boyets tomato variety into open soil, apply nitrogen-phosphorus fertilizer. During active fruiting, potassium fertilizer can be used as a supplementary fertilizer. To ensure good growth, Buyan Yellow and Red tomato varieties are mulched with peat or straw. Mulch retains moisture and reduces the likelihood of weed growth.

Advantages and disadvantages
Like any other variety, the Boyets tomato has its own advantages and disadvantages. Its positive characteristics include:
- Resistance to frost, drought and temperature changes.
- Possibility of growing without tying up bushes due to the low-growing type of plant.
- Versatility of use - tomatoes are suitable for fresh consumption or canning.
- Good survival rate both in open ground and in greenhouses.
- High and stable yield with minimal care for seedlings.
A disadvantage of the Boyets variety is that it is not suitable for long-term storage when fresh. After harvesting, it is recommended to consume the fruit within 3-4 days.

Pests and diseases
Infertile soil, poor crop rotation, or other growing conditions can lead to plant diseases. The most common is blossom-end rot, which develops on the underside of the fruit and appears as deep, dark spots. If rotting fruit is detected, treat the affected areas with a calcium nitrate solution.
Cracks often appear on tomatoes during the active ripening period, which can be mistaken for disease. The plant's description suggests that cracking occurs due to excess moisture at the roots, and in this case, reducing the frequency of watering is sufficient to preserve the variety. Cracking is dangerous because even small cracks can allow bacteria harmful to human health to penetrate.

The most common crop pest is the spider mite. It clings to the underside of leaves, sucking out the sap and leaving a web. The insect's presence causes small black spots to appear on the leaves, after which the leaves dry out and fall off. To combat spider mites, you can use an infusion of garlic peel or specialized fertilizers.
As preventative measures to prevent the development of diseases and the appearance of insects, it is necessary to water plants in a timely manner and in the required amount, regularly destroy weeds, visually inspect bushes for damage, and destroy damaged seedlings.
Harvesting and storage
Tomatoes can be picked at different stages of ripening, depending on their intended use. For fresh consumption, fully ripened, deep-colored tomatoes are best, while green tomatoes are suitable for artificial ripening and subsequent canning. Fresh tomatoes only last a few days, and should be stored in the refrigerator or wooden crates in a cool room.

It's best to ripen varietal tomatoes in cardboard boxes, covered with a thick material. To speed up the ripening process, all experienced gardeners who have planted this variety recommend keeping the container at room temperature.
Gardeners' reviews
Inga, Feodosia: "Last year, I bought seeds on the advice of friends, and now for the second year in a row I'm growing the 'Boets' variety. When I first planted them, a few cracked due to overwatering, but overall, the yield is very high. Next season, I'll try planting both varieties to compare flavors."
Igor, Moscow: "I hesitated for a long time about planting this tomato variety, but the positive reviews convinced me. I haven't regretted my choice at all—the Buyan variety turned out to be very easy to care for. The fruits are rich in flavor and have a pleasant aroma. I haven't encountered any pests, although I've had a few times where I couldn't remove the weeds in time."
