Herbicides are widely used as weed killers in both large agricultural and farming enterprises, as well as private households. The herbicide "Total" is effective against annual and perennial weeds in fields and non-agricultural lands. It is designed for use on grain, legume, and sunflower crops.
What is included in the composition and existing forms of release
Total 480 is an aqueous solution containing glyphosate salt, a glycine-like substance, as the active ingredient. The herbicide contains 480 grams of glyphosate per liter. Total is a non-selective herbicide, primarily intended for treating large agricultural areas, and is therefore available in 10- and 20-liter plastic canisters.
Pros and cons of the product
Total is considered a highly effective and economical herbicide. It can be applied between the period of intense weed growth and before flowering. This allows for the control of even the most persistent weeds, such as couch grass, sow thistle, and field bindweed. The herbicide has no residual soil effects. Its application does not disrupt crop rotation.
After applying the herbicide "Total", any crops can be sown in the previously sprayed area.
The herbicide can be used as a desiccant, applied to fields shortly before harvesting to reduce weed infestation and lower grain moisture, thereby improving grain quality. It does not accumulate in the soil and breaks down into simple compounds within two weeks of application.

The use of "Total" allows for a reduction in the cost of loosening, a decrease in the number of loosening operations, which results in reduced soil erosion and an increase in soil moisture content.
Purpose
Total is used on spring and winter crops against first-year grass weeds and broadleaf weeds. This herbicide can also be used on legumes, sunflowers, soybeans, corn, flax, orchards and vineyards, and non-agricultural lands to control weeds and trees and shrubs.
Mechanism of action
Glyphosate salt from Total can penetrate all vegetative parts of weeds, accumulating in active growth zones. Physiological processes (such as the synthesis of amino acids essential for growth and development) are disrupted, leading to the gradual death of weeds. The product suppresses rhizomatous perennial weeds because its solution is easily absorbed by root hairs.

How quickly does it work and how long does it last?
The first signs of effect can be observed 3-4 days after treatment, manifesting as yellowing and browning of the weeds, followed by root death. Within 1-2 weeks, the weeds are completely dead.
How much should I spend?
In fields with spring and winter crops, the application rate is 2-5 liters per hectare for annual cereals and broadleaf weeds, and 4-6 liters per hectare for perennial weeds. For spraying non-agricultural land against grassy weeds, use 3-6 liters per hectare, and for shrubs, 5-8 liters. For gardens, prepare a solution of 4-6 liters per hectare (against annual and perennial weeds). 200-300 liters of solution are used per hectare.

How to prepare a working solution
Fill the sprayer tank halfway with water and add the required amount of herbicide. Top up the tank with water and stir. Continue stirring while spraying.
Instructions for use
Total is effective against weeds at above-zero temperatures, so it can be used throughout the weed growing season, except during periods of extreme cold and heat. According to the instructions, it is not recommended to spray crops in winds exceeding 5 m/s to prevent the solution from drifting onto nearby crops. Dust on weeds slows the solution's penetration into their tissues, so crops should be treated after rain, when the plants have dried out slightly. However, spraying should not be done in rainy weather or during dew.
Safety precautions and storage rules
Total is classified as a Class 3 hazard agrochemical, so protective equipment is required when handling it: thick clothing, a mask, goggles, and gloves. The herbicide has a shelf life of 3 years in its original packaging at a temperature of 5-35˚C.

Pesticides that also contain glyphosate as an active ingredient include: Argument Star, Aristocrat Super, Volnik, Helios Extra, GlyBest, Glyphosans Super, Goliath, Grange, Credit Extreme, Rap 600, Roundup Extra, Silach, Sprut Extra, and Tornado 540. These products are used over large areas; for home gardening, Sniper and Sprut Extra can be used. Roundup Extra, Sprut Extra, and Tornado 540 are used as desiccants.
Total herbicide is a broad-spectrum herbicide used against annual and perennial weeds. Although primarily intended for industrial crops, it can also be used in the home.
