Description of the Miracle of the Land tomato, characteristics, cultivation and yield of the variety

Rumors have been circulating for years about a tomato variety called the Miracle of the Land. Ukraine first heard of it in 2002, but it was added to the State Register in 2006. V.N. Dederko began talking about this unknown tomato. Thanks to him, people learned about its many advantages. In recent years, its popularity has only grown.

Description

Miracle of the Land is a variety that's difficult to find for home growing. This only applies to genuine seeds. That's why it's called a hobby variety. Unfortunately, there are many negative reviews about this tomato on forums. It's important to note that these negative reviews are directed at counterfeits, not genuine seeds.

To be sure of the authenticity of the seeds, it is better to purchase them in specialized stores, or from neighbors or friends who are already growing this variety.

The Chudo Zemli variety is considered indeterminate. This means there is no cluster at the top of the bush to limit growth. The bush can grow up to two meters tall. This can happen if it is left in the ground for a long time. Under good growing conditions, the bush produces eight to 12 clusters, each bearing up to eight large tomatoes. They can be grown both indoors and outdoors.

The fruits are considered unusual because they are perfect. Their main advantage is their size and taste. Not every tomato can boast a fruit weighing between seven hundred grams and a kilogram. This is an impressive figure for a simple tomato. The most interesting thing is that size does not affect the taste. More precisely, at this size, the tomato remains juicy, tender, richly aromatic, and slightly sweet. The description of the Miracle of the Land variety makes you want to plant these tomatoes right away in your garden.

Growing

Seedlings are sown 60–65 days before planting. Pricking out is done when the first two true leaves appear. When planting in a permanent location, no more than three plants should be placed per square meter. Four plants are used to form a single stem.

The Ukrainian Miracle of the Land can be grown in a variety of open ground conditions. It's important to avoid over-indulgence in growing tomatoes of this variety, as they thrive without much care. Forget about regular watering, as the Miracle of the Land variety tolerates droughts well.

Even if moisture is low, the harvest will still be rewarding. Drought resistance is a characteristic of this variety. In extreme heat, the leaves on the plant begin to curl, thus combating moisture loss. The curled leaves are a biological characteristic of the variety. The bush itself is large and massive, and to retain moisture within the plant, it closes its leaves.

Care Features

To increase yield, tomato plants need proper care after planting. Remove side shoots when they reach 7-8 centimeters in height. Repeat this process every week. Removing side shoots also requires proper care. This procedure should be performed so that the tomatoes are not exposed to direct sunlight.

Based on the description of the tomato, it's clear that it's a tall plant. Therefore, after planting, it should be tied to a sturdy support immediately. No more than three plants should be planted in a single square meter, as this will limit root space.

Water sparingly. Overwatering will ruin the tomatoes' flavor. It's best to tend to the plants early in the morning or evening to avoid strong sunlight. To ensure healthy growth, mulch the soil. This can be peat, hay, overripe straw, or compost. Avoid using fresh manure.

Few gardeners know that fruit set can be increased artificially. It's easy: leave a container of fresh grass in the greenhouse. As the grass ferments, it releases carbon dioxide, which is considered the best nutrition for plants.

Miracle of the Land is also fertilized, but this should only be done during the fruiting period. The following are used for fertilizing:

  • Phosphorus and potassium fertilizers.
  • Tincture of mullein or freshly cut grass.
  • Boric acid solution for foliar feeding.

The fruits must be collected when they are ripe and in dry weather.

Advantages and disadvantages

Each variety has its pros and cons. Let's explore what makes Miracle of the Land tomatoes so appealing.

First and foremost, the variety's major advantage is its consistent yield. With proper cultivation and care, tomatoes can yield approximately 20 kilograms of delicious fruit per square meter.

Tomatoes of this variety easily withstand transportation, even over long distances. Their appearance and flavor remain intact. They also resist cracking.

Miracle of the Land tomatoes are drought-resistant. This feature is ideal for those who can't water their plants daily. Temporary loss of moisture or extreme heat won't harm the fruit.

Chudo tomatoes are not considered hybrids. Therefore, gardeners don't need to buy seeds every year. They retain all their qualities in their own seeds.

In addition to the positive aspects, there are also negative ones:

  • Since the plant is tall, it must be tied to strong supports throughout the growing season.
  • If growing in unprotected soil, the fruits should be covered in strong winds.
  • To obtain a good harvest, the bushes need to be shaped.

Pests and diseases

The most common diseases that plague "Miracle of the Land" tomatoes are brown spot and tobacco mosaic. If the plant is infected with tobacco mosaic, the infected branches should be pruned. The cut areas should be treated with a diluted solution of potassium permanganate. Barrier and Zaslon products can also be used. These are used only in the most severe cases. To prevent these diseases from affecting the plant, water it regularly and monitor the temperature.

Tomato diseases

As for pests, greenhouse whiteflies are very common. They are most often found on greenhouse plants. To combat this insect, use Condifor. Outdoor plants are prone to slugs and mites. In this case, only a soap solution or ash will help.

Harvesting and storage

The yield of the Miracle of the Land variety delights gardeners. The tomatoes are grown for three months, and they are ready to harvest around August or September. Tomatoes should be removed from the bush regularly to avoid overloading the plant. They should be picked when they are completely red and firm.

Tomato fruits

If frost is forecast, tomatoes are picked while still green, and they keep well at room temperature. They store well for long periods. If stored properly, the fruits will last until New Year's Eve. With proper care, a single tomato plant can yield 5-7 kilograms.

Gardeners' reviews

Before planting the Miracle of the Land tomato, it's best to read reviews from people who have already planted this variety. Gardeners have mixed opinions about these tomatoes.

Tomato blossom

Ilya from Krasnodar: "Last year I planted 'Miracle of the Land.' I can't say I was impressed or disappointed with this variety. It was an ordinary tomato, round in shape, and like most, it cracked. It really doesn't require much care. The yield is good. It's a good variety. I'll plant it again next year."

Marina from Moscow, however, had a different aftertaste about this variety: "Many friends recommended the Miracle of the Land variety. I decided to buy one for myself. I planted it as recommended and cared for it. Planting the bushes in a greenhouse wasn't the best option either. Unfortunately, they began to wilt and no fruit appeared. Of the many bushes, only a couple survived, and they also failed to produce a good harvest. I wasn't impressed with the variety, and it was even disappointing. I don't recommend it."

The most emotional review came from Margarita from Sevastopol: "I don't understand why there's so much dissatisfaction with this variety? I've been planting Chudo Zemli tomatoes for years now and have never encountered the problems mentioned above. I can say one thing: your seeds are counterfeit! Chudo Zemli is the best variety I've ever encountered. The tomato is juicy, large, round, and retains its flavor even after several weeks of storage. It requires virtually no care. Sometimes I can't get to the plants for more than two weeks, but they just sit there, growing and ripening on their own."
